Angsty Janto one-shot

Jack Harkness walked through the cemetery, making his way past the mossy gravestones. Normally he would stop, clean off some of the more overgrown gravestones. Occasionally he would find an old friend, and he'd smile and talk about his life. But today was different, it was special.

It was August 19th. Ianto's birthday.

And so, to celebrate, he would spend his entire day there. Cleaning the gravestone, giving his old lover his favorite flowers, and talking. Telling Ianto about his life. How big Anwen was getting. How Gwen and Rhys were.

Setting down the roses, which were almost the exact same color as Ianto's favorite shirt, Jack knelt down by the grave. He began the yearly process of cleaning off the grave. Then he took the roses and set them down on the grave, sitting next to it. Sighing, he began to talk.

"I know it's been a while.." He started off, looking ahead. "I've been taking care of Anwen for Gwen and Rhys. You wouldn't believe how much she's grown. She's about 3 now, too." He paused while the wind blew past him, messing up his hair. He rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, right. Whatever." Pausing, he looked down at his hands. "I've been thinking about going off for a bit again. Don't know where. Close to home, y'know. The usual. Go off and drink away all my sorrows. The norm." He looked up at the sky. "Am I a coward for running? Can it even be called that? I mean, I'm really only running from the past. Speaking of which, I saw your sister the other day. She's doing good."

Jack closed his eyes, and he could almost feel Ianto wrapping his arms around him, his warm breath against Jack's ear. Jack closed his eyes for a minute, imagining what Ianto would say.

"You aren't running from anything. It wasn't your fault." He'd say, his eyes full of warmth and love. Always full of love. How had Jack never noticed that before? He was just so blind. Or maybe denial.

"Always taking care of me, aren't you?" He laughed, lying back on the green grass and closing his eyes. "I'll come by more often, maybe even take Anwen by so you can see her." The wind blew over him again, almost caressing him. "I know, I know. I'm being stupid." Sighing, he got to his feet, brushing himself off. "I'll come back soon, I promise. But I gotta pick up Anwen." He looked down at the gravestone and the roses. "Maybe I'll stop and see Tosh too. Anyways, goodbye Ianto. I love you."

Welp, it's a bit short.. Sorry. First Janto fic too soo... Anyways, leave a review. Especially if it includes constructive criticism. Thanks!
