Hey, it's future me and I noticed how confusing the Italics are in this chapter so I decided to fix it.

Centuries have flown by like nothing for Aechmea or better known as the Prince to his people, the Lunarians. One day he announced the making of Synthetic gems were hyped up the race but were soon brought down as each attempt to make a gem came with failed results. Though, this time Aechmea was determined to making this one work. He has been working on a project for the last couple centuries. He only hoped that this one was going to work as he personally oversaw every little detail put into the unnamed gem.

Here he was. Just standing in front of the almost finished project that had taken far too long to complete all it was missing was a headpiece. It had taken multiple captured gems and extensive research but he had done it. He, well multiple other scientists, are the making have made the first possibly working Synthetic gem this one was different from the others since a bigger crew was put in place for this gem. Said gem was being held in a pod specially made for them as their body was in a frail state at the moment but all that was missing was once again the head. The gem is a very tricky subject to talk about as it's hardness scale first ranged from 7.5 to 8.0 but something...happened per say as their whole structure decided to vary in hardness whenever it felt like almost as if it was alive despite not having a head.

One time when they tested the hardness, a mere scratch with their fingernails was enough to make a scratch mark surprising the whole crew working on the gem. Then another time it would take an extensive amount of force to even make a dent as they once rammed a polearm into their body to no extent. But the matter came back to the head, how will it react when it attaches to the rest of the body? Will it function correctly? Or will it be another failed project? Aechmea hoped for the former outcome.

He sighed as multiple hairstyles popped up into his head and almost slipped up and let a tiny frown form upon his face, he shook his head as a popular option told by the hairstylist came to mind. Long and a wavy just down to just above the waist, he had agreed to let them make the design once he finished. He barely nodded in thought as he started to mold the head as he very carefully carved out eye sockets that resembled ones of Bortz as they slanted up (it was a mere coincidence that he made eyes resembling Bortz minus the whole small pupil thing ) he made the iris' pieces that let them see, an electric yellow color but realised it would probably turn grey once he attached the head but he pressed on.

Speaking of turning grey he turned to the rest of the body. Something interesting about this gem was that when he made just made the stomach portion, it had started to wildly flair into random colors. Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Orange, all sorts of color before settling on a dull grey, this is when the hardness had changed on its own despite his crew of scientist trying to fix the gem but to no avail. Mind you, the color chosen for the synthetic gem was blue since the Lunarians are fond of the color blue for some reason. From then on, attaching a leg or arm with colored features will follow the same pattern of flaring through colors before winding up on grey disappointing the crew but perking Aechmea's interest.

A year later here there he stands with the finished head for the gem. He let the stylist do their work as they very carefully trimmed and cut the hair into straight even strands and left their bangs to loosely fall just above their eyes. After they were done, Aechmea thanked them as they left. Pulling out two lenses made for the gems vision, he used special resin created specially from Aechmea's hands. He glued on the lenses to the eye balls and placed them into the sockets in the gems face. He stared into the eyes and was surprised to find that they didn't change color despite the minutes that passed by.

He then had the help of other scientists to help him carry out the body not knowing what their hardness was as they very carefully placed them on the operating bed. After being laid down properly with no imperfections, Aechmea went to the side of the table that had the stump for a neck and smothered it in even coatings of resin. Grabbing the gems head, he oh so very precisely attached it as the two body parts attached with a high pitched ding.

And Aechmea waited.

And waited.

waited.

But yet the project had once again failed for the umptenth time in his while lifetime except, this one hit him harder than the other ones for some strange reason. After finding out on his loss, Aechmea sank to his knees and stared at the lifeless gem with an indescribable expression. Anger, Loss, Disappointment, Sadness, were just some of the emotions running through him as he started to shake lightly. He had such high hopes for this one he just wished he could start over and try to rectify where he went wrong! But no, it seems the Lunarians are bound to there never ending pain. Just as he was about to get up something...moved.

The gems fingers twitched they moved!. A pang of real happiness shot through him as his crew started to clap behind him. Lowly, he laughed under his breath and dipped his head and got into a bowing position on the floor, closed his eyes, and started to laugh and in some time he started to cackle softly, if that's a thing, in delight knowing that his plan was coming to light. Though his crew were already done celebrating, for the time being, Aechmea had not stop bowing and laughing lowly making the Scientist and vessel units alike stare at him weirdly asking each other if he had completely lost it or not but they had not bothered to ask their Prince if so. But in due time he helped himself back up and make an exception for today "Send three vessels to the surface as a sort of celebration" the fighters cheered as they set up for the fight.

After their fingers had twitched, he had not moved from the operating room and asked his subordinates to bring a chair and some books of his for his entertainment and waited once more. He was more than willing to wait for his solution to his eternal pain.

He had the time to wait.

Not one day had passed and the gem moved their arm a small margin in their 'sleep' Aechmea had, of course, noticed this and smiled. Getting up he moved around to the gems head and placed a single digit on the gems forehead which gained him a slight twitch from their head making one eyebrow rise. He tried once more being more successful as they seemed to allow his touch. He tenderly drew circles on their forehead and did so for a bit before sitting back down to read his book about the gems on the surface.

.

And he waited once again never noticing the gems head slowly turn towards where he sat.

(? POV)

What is this? Why is there the feeling of warmth somewhere above...me? I...I can't move? Why?! What am I? Who am I?

I tried moving my fingers only for them to budge a millimeter. Why can't I move!? But it seemed somebody was near me as masculine laugh rang out which added even more questions as a round of claps and cheers followed the laughs. I tried to open my mouth only for it not budge a single bit somebody is here with me, but why don't they help me?

? days later

Hm, nothing still. Simply nothing that I try to do is working maybe if I focus all my willpower on my arm will it work?... Yes? My arm only moved an inch or two so I guess it worked. Hearing something scrape against the floor I started to slightly panic on the inside

What?! What was that? Gahh! Feeling something touch my forehead I managed to jerk my head away. I tried calming myself down Okay, okay what do I d- but as I racing to find out what to do I felt the touch again.

A-actually, It felt kinda warm...there it is again! The touch was warm, almost comforting! Hmm, it actually...feels kinda good but then again how do I know if this being is bad or good? That's something I'm starting to realize...how do I know all this stuff? it feels like I was just born... Too many questions with so little answers. Feeling the warmth disappear I pouted on the inside Ah no! don't go away!~ that actually felt good! feeling no touch I frowned on the inside ah too bad then… I managed to follow their footsteps as they stopped, followed by a chair scraping.

So, some time has passed, I believe up to..6 or 7 days and I feel like my willpower to open my eyes is slightly coming back, every now and then I would feel the same warmth on my forehead and it would comfort me enough not to fall into insanity so that was helpful at least. Coming back to the topic at hand I would, with a tiny margin, open my eyes to let a sliver of light shine into my eyes before they shut closed on their own accord which frustrated me greatly. As they were explaining to their hidden audience they opened their eyes a tiny sliver only for some blinding light stopping them, forcing them shut. They tried for the rest of the day never noticing it transitioned into the next day.

But today was different. When I tried to open my eyes they did so with much more liberty, which surprised even me. When they opened I looked at a man with a white lab coat with his hair slicked back 'who are you?' I asked in my head he sighed as he put down the book with closed eyes. When he did look up he stared wide-eyed as he stood up leaving his book on the chair, which I figured did the scraping noise, and started coming towards me.

Quietly sighing, Aechmea turned the page on his book as it failed to distract his running thoughts. He furrowed his brows as it came back 'Will...will they have to be taught like a newborn? What will I do then?' he shook his head as he put down the book. Closing my eyes I looked down in thought 'Then I'll have to tough it. No use in getting rid of gem that took time to make' he concluded but as he looked up he widened his eyes at the gem in front of him that was...awake.

He got up and got closer to the gem who followed him with their eyes alone. He noticed that the gems eyes were half-lidded as if not fully awake but still aware of their surroundings more with the formal scheme of things. He waved his hand in front of his gems eyes as they followed it with their eyes.

"When will you decide to get up?" he asked softly and noticed how the gems pupils snapped up to his face and stayed like as if examining him. His eyes slightly widened when he noticed the rainbow flame-like colors in the gems eyes, flare into another set of colors. He put his finger just underneath the eyelid and looked deeper into their eyes "Your eyes are beautiful" he muttered with a smile. They only peered at him before closing their eyes once more.

"When is the day that you will be fully functional as a living gem? Hmm?" he hummed as he rubbed their forehead before sitting back down on his seat resuming his place in the book his head cleared up.

I didn't know my eyes were that good looking. And what do you mean 'when is the day you will be fully functional as a living gem?' once again so many questions with little answers. Hopefully, when I can talk once again I get answers. For the time being. I feel sleeping from all that...

Edit: Filled in some gaps and made the italic portion more readable so it would make more sense for any of the readers going to the first chapter. I will proceed to fix the next chapters in due time.
