Jak woke up with a sharp pain in his chest.

He bolted up, which he immediately realized was a bad idea. Groaning, he collapsed onto what he found was a bed..and a pillow.

"Unnh.." he muttered to himself, "Wha…What the hell happened to me…?"

"You..you were knocked out. A few bruises…a hit in the chest…"A soft voice murmured out of the darkness. The voice didn't stop. " I…I was worried..so I..."the voice hitched, "…took you here."

"K-Keira?" Jak sat up.

"Jak…?"Keira answered, walking out of the shadows. "You shouldn't sit up…"she went on, gliding slowly to the bed. He felt her fingertips lightly brush on his chest. "Lay down..please."

He groaned, lying back on the propped up pillows.

"Turn on—the light…" he croaked.

He heard a dim click as the lights were turned on, and the faint hum of them warming up.

After his eyes adjusted to the light, he surveyed his surroundings. One of those cheap Haven apartments, but he sensed a cozy feel to it.

There was a large workbench, some tools scattered around, gears and wires strewn a large desk, and the faint smell of nutmeg and motor oil.

Currently, he was lying on a medium sized bed. It wasn't fancy, but it wasn't run down either.

Jak was the only person in the room….except for…

….Keira.

She was sitting at the edge of the bed, an anxious look on her face.

God, she looked beautiful.

A heart shaped face, framed by a fair amount of soft blue locks. Her eyes were the color of the sea ,a deep aquamarine that caught light and reflected it. And her skin…it was of a creamy shade…and he was sure it would feel silky to the touch.

"J..Jak…" Her voice cut short his thoughts.

"Hmm…." He interrupted.

"Jak.." She said again, her face flushing.

…..The hell? Is she just gonna keep saying my name….? Not that I don't like it..He thought to himself.

Oh, and Jak…he did like it when she said his name. His own ordinary name sounded mesmerizing when she said it.

"Yes, Keira?" He said softly. "Oh..umm.." She stuttered, "I….."

Oh god, she was beautiful.

His assessing of her did not go unnoticed by Keira.

Jak observed a light scarlet blush appear on her cheeks.

Which only served to make her more attractive.

That was the last straw.

Jak sat up, ignoring Keira's instant demand for him to lie down. "P…Please Jak! Yo…You're hurt! You need to…"

He watched her lean across the bed, in an attempt to push him back.

Jak caught her arm in mid-reach.

And pulled her in.

The kiss was long and very intoxicating. Or maybe that was just Keira, who let out a soft noise when he first touched her lips.

At first he sensed shocked resistance….. and he pictured her pulling away.

But then her lips gave up the resistance ….and surrendered to the kiss.

When they broke apart for a moment, Keira took a deep breath and looked up into his eyes.

Jak looked back.

Her eyes were soft, and reflected a type of light. They were slightly hazed as she tried to recover from the kiss.

He reached out and traced her jaw line, and she closed her eyes.

"Oh…Jak…" She sighed and snuggled her head into his chest, reaching out and wrapping her arms around his shoulders.

In return, Jak held her tighter, breathing in her scent.

Nutmeg, coffee grinds, motor oil…and an underlying aroma that was just…

Keira.
