Just a boy and girl. 12 and 14. Best friends providing for their families in a dark and horrible world.
"They'll get married," is what people used to say. But that's just a memory now. Because that same dark and horrible world took that away too.
The dark and horrible world sentenced her to probable death. She promised him she would try and win.
The boy to distraught didn't tell her. He didn't tell her he loved her. She never knew the truth.
Their dark and horrible world transformed into a cover up of extravagance and beauty, but it wasn't real.
The boy watched from afar, his heart breaking as he watched her with the new boy in her life. He couldn't watch, he didn't know what was real.
The girl thought of him, she felt like she was betraying him. She didn't know why.
The dark and horrible world separated them. It took everything.
The girl thought she'd won. She hadn't really.
The dark and horrible world took away her privacy, her life. It took away his hope.
She didn't get the choice. The boy and girl could never be together.
The dark and horrible world took that away from them too.
Just a boy and girl. Now 17 and 19. Destined to be together forever.
But the dark and horrible world ripped that apart.
