A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away there was dry, sandy planet. Few beings lived there because of it's dry and desolate weather. It was always hot and seldom rained. Many many years ago the planet had been a bustling economic and political center, but, due to pollution, the planet had wasted away over the years until all that was left were ruins and sand. Almost no people lived there compared to Billions that had once called the planet home. Most of the beings who did presently live there were only there because they didn't have the means to leave.
There was not much business on Coruscant, due to the lack of people and resources, but there was a cantina, intergalactic trading post, and several, little shops that sold slightly used (and/)or low quality, everyday objects and scavenging supplies. They were all contained in something between a town and a village. The people who lived on Coruscant were either the owners of a business, the people who worked for them, or scavengers, who kind of worked for the trading post.
Scavengers would go into the, often dangerous and unstable, ruins and gather spare parts for ships, droids, anything really. The trading post manager traded food in exchange for the parts. This wasn't a fair system though. The post manager could offer any amount of food he felt like for the parts given to them. This was because no other businesses could, or had reason to, buy the parts. The scavengers had to take what they were given or starve. Food became a valuable commodity.
If one wanted to leave Coruscant they needed to have a sizable amount of money to pay, or bribe, their way onto a ship. Since food was the main currency in Coruscant it was extremely hard to leave. Pilots and their crews didn't settle for food they wanted money. Since they were paid in food, scavengers who wanted to leave had to steal money here and there to have enough to leave.
