Math was always Kenji's least favorite class. He had never understood it and growing up in a poor, non-educated, huge family had not made things any better. And just to top it off, he was put into a special help class for math with just one other person there, and that person just happened to be Takeo Fujioka. Tall, handsome, strong, & athletic, Takeo seemed to be the perfect boy. Too bad Kenji hated his guts, and Takeo knew it. The summer of sixth grade was the time the Fujioka family decided to move to the small town of Kurashiki. That year Takeo took Kenji's title as the best at everything and Kenji hadn't got over it since. It had been three years later and he still had a grudge. As Kenji waited for this to be over so that he could leave and go home he wondered how Takeo got put into this afterschool math class. It wasn't like he was stupid. Last Kenji heard from Ayumi, Takeo's biggest fan & somehow Kenji's best friend, Takeo got decent grades. At that moment the teacher let them go. When they got in the hall things were awkward. There was nobody else there since the regular students got out an hour earlier and neither one of them wanted to talk. Kenji tried to walk faster to try and get away, but in his hast he tripped over a tile, and his things went everywhere.

"Are you ok!" Takeo asked as he ran over to Kenji to help get him up. Kenji couldn't help notice how sweet his voice sounded but he easily pushed those thoughts out of his head.

"Get off me. I'm fine. I don't need anybody's help, and I definitely don't need it from you!" Kenji rudely blurted out while trying to push Takeo off.

"Geeeezzz. Calm down. I'm just trying to help." Takeo explained while backing up and collecting Kenji's books. Realizing how rude his words actually were Kenji apologized. He looked up to see Takeo smiling and pulling a curly piece of his beautiful, brown hair back. "It's ok. I was just trying to help, but you do realize know you owe me one now." Takeo explained with his stupid, but somehow charming laugh.

"What do you mean owe you one? What am I doing?" Kenji asked frustrated. He had never planned on owing anybody anything, but for some reason he was a little intrigued with what Takeo had in mind.

"Oh don't worry. You'll find out later." Takeo said. "But until then I'll see you back here at football practice tomorrow." And with that Kenji hadn't realized they had been walking and talking all the way to their houses. "Well I'll see you than!" Takeo screamed as he walked across the street into his house.

"Yeah see you then." Kenji's reply was barely audible to hear, but for some reason he was excited for tomorrow.
