Hiya! Didn't think you'd see more from this story, did ya? Well, I decided to write a one-shot to follow up on One Last Kiss... It's quite sad, actually. Anyways, you know the drill. I don't own Pokemon, or any of the characters. I do own Marianna, though.
"Mom..." The voice came out as frail as a spider web(heard that before *COUGHchapter16COUGH*) I looked down at my twelve year old daughter, Marianna. Not yet thirteen, and dying of Typhoid Fever. I have no idea how this could have happened! She was healthy last week for Thanksgiving, I just don't get it! My mother cooked the food, so it couldn't have been infected. My mother takes food very seriously. I smiled as a tear fell from the corner of my eye.
"Yes, hun?"
"where's daddy?"
I hoped he was back from work... "Let me call him to come." I pulled out my cell phone.
Ring.
Ring Ring.
Ring Ring Ring.
"Hello? May? You're upstairs. Just come down and get me." My husband said on the other end of the line.
"Drew, please come upstairs and see Mary. She misses you... You're always at work.." He hung up and I heard the thud of footsteps coming up the stairs and down the hall.
The door creaked open and my green haired husband walked over and kissed my forehead then bent down, moved a strand of Marianna's brown hair away from her jade eyes, and smiled.
"Hey, sweetie! Feel any better?" He asked quietly.
She shook her head lightely. "Not really..."
"Oh, well, do you want anything?"
"Mommy? Daddy? Will you... Sing me a lullaby?"
Drew smiled and nodded at me.
I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, "I'll never let you go"
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone"
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight
Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound
Don't you dare look out your window, darling,
Everything's on fire
The war outside our door keeps raging on
Hold on to this lullaby
Even when the music's gone
Gone
Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
La La (La La)
La La (La La)
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
La La (La La)
Just close your eyes
You'll be alright
Come morning light,
You and I'll be safe and sound...
Oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh oh oh. [x7]
She smiled and closed her eyes. "It was beautiful... Thank... you..." that was the last thing she ever said.
A tear fell from my eye. Drew hugged me and kissed my forehead.
"May.. It's okay." even though I could hear a tear in his voice, he didn't cry.
We had a funeral the next month. All her friends and family showed up dressed in black. I cried the whole time, and recieved many hugs. The only thing that can compare to the hurt I feel now is when Drew, my one and only love, almost died. At least I could sing her a lullaby...
