Danny has been driving me crazy. He took off his tie hours ago and the only thing I can think about is licking a path from the hollow of his throat to his jaw, then kissing him until neither of us could breathe. His voice startled me out of my thoughts. "What's up?"

"What?"

"That face. You're making a face again." I sighed, set my beer in the sand and stood up.

"Please don't hit me."

"What – "

I leaned forward and gently pressed my lips to Danny's. For a few seconds he was still, surprise in every line of his body. Then he came back to himself and pushed me back. "What was that!? What the hell is the matter with you, Steve!? You don't go around randomly kissing people!"

"I love you, Danny. I always have." His expression turned softer. Somehow the anger seemed easier to deal with.

"I'm straight, Steve. I'm sorry. I should go." I turned to face the ocean to hide my disappointment. I could hear him walking, his steps getting further and further away. I flinched when the front door closed and tears filled my eyes.

"That was last week." I got up to get another beer. I brought back two and passed down the second.

"Oh my God. I'm so sorry, Steve. What are you going to do?" I looked into Kono's eyes. "What else am I going to do, Kono? I have to let him go. I can't make him love me back."

"Just wait a little longer. Please. I think he really does love you. He just needs time to see it."

Tears filled my eyes again, but this time they fell down my face. "I can't wait for someone who doesn't love me. I can't wait for him. It hurts too much, knowing he could be with someone that isn't me. I just can't. I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize, brah. I understand. Is there anything I can do?"

"Yeah, actually there is. Can you book me a flight to L.A.?"
