A/N: I'm back with, once again, another one-shot. I know I'm supposed to be working on Invuctus Maneo, but I had written this a while back and I felt as if I needed to post it, so enjoy . . .

Reese sat in his apartment, nursing a beer, mulling over what Walter had thought of him.

You're a freaking superhero!

That was a funny way to explain him, a superhero. Walter probably wouldn't think that if he knew what the ex-CIA agent had done. Reese took a sip of his beer. He had killed people, lots of people. But Walter didn't know that.

No I'm not.

That had been Reese's answer, not a dry chuckle, not silence. Just, no, I'm not, as if he was trying to convince the IT guy. Did it matter what he thought?

Yes. A little voice said in the back of John's skull. You're not a superhero. You're the farthest thing from a superhero.

John sighed and took another sip of his beer. He saved people now, helped them. He made sure that they weren't killed or going to kill someone. He's changed since his days at the CIA. Hasn't he? He never liked killing people, but he was good at it. Back then he was given an order and he followed through. No questions asked. He wasn't paid to worry about their life, but he did anyways. What he used to do haunts him every day.

Yes, you are.

That was Walter's response when he saw Shaw and Fusco walk towards them. Reese took another sip of his drink. He had a team now. They kept him in line.

Reese smirked when he remembered Shaw hitting him in the back of the head and dragging him out of a situation that could have been particularly dangerous. He remembered Finch talking him down right as he was about to kill Quinn.

His team had his back. They would take care of him, keep him in check. Without them he would probably be long dead. They made him somewhat human.

Reese set his drink down. Maybe he wasn't a superhero, but he helped people. And if it helped Walter and countless others sleep at night to think he was a superhero . . . Then so be it.

So excited for tonight's episode! If you liked this story, or even if you didn't like it just leave a review. I really appreciate input. Love you guys
