In the beginning were the old gods. These gods had no names, or if they did, they have long since been forgotten. It was they who created this world in which we live. Law and order, land and sea, sun and moon, forests and deserts, mountains and valleys, the beasts of the air, earth, and waters; all were crafted by the hands of the gods.
One god in particular took special care in making a race that would dominate the world: the humans. It was through them that this god sought to claim the world for his own. The other gods, frightened by this display of lust and greed, banded together and cast their brother out, sending him to the world of men. However, it didn't come without a cost…
Those who remained faithful to their cause of presiding over the new world found their power to be lacking after facing the wrath of the lone god. Their power dwindled until they were but husks of their former selves.
The lone god, using his knowledge of the human's weaknesses, crafted a new race that would secure him the world: the demons. The first among these was the most powerful. His name was Azrael. The Right-Hand of the dark god and the General of his armies, Azrael was truly a force to behold -death on dark wings. And so it was that the vengeful god continued to grow his army, becoming more powerful still.
In a last, desperate attempt to keep their fallen brother at bay, the gods called forth the divine being Hylia. One by one, they poured their power into her, adding to the great power she already possessed, until she was a match for the dark god's might. Hylia was then sent to the world -later named Hyrule because of this phenomenon- to protect the humans.
The dark god named himself Demise, the Demon King. Death incarnate, the bane of light, master of mortals, a king's greatest fear. Anyone who stood in his way either joined him or fell dead in a pool of blood at his feet. Demise's army continued to grow, while Hylia's had not yet formed.
And so it was that the divine being, the great goddess Hylia, molded two beings that would serve to be her General and strategist: the leaders of the army that would combat the Demon King…
Hello all! I know that this is short, but it acts as a prologue, offering a bit of a backstory. Think of it like the prologue in the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. That's kind of the feel I was going for.
