AN:

I do not own Space Engineers. Keen Software House owns Space Engineers. This is a gameplay-based story, based on the Easy Start Earth scenario. Gameplay will be influenced by mods, though many are aesthetic choices, with the others being functional... and I do not own those either. I will try to highlight modded content, so as to not confuse people who primarily play vanilla SE.

Engineer's Log - Day 1

Following the completion of construction of Alpha Outpost on a nearby Earth-like planet, I wake from cryogenic stasis. I don't do much, really. Stretch the legs and get a feel for the layout of my new home. While not exactly a punishment, my posting here isn't exactly a blessing either. The planet was displaced from the Goldilocks Zone, not by much, but enough for daytime atmospheric temperature to always be sub-zero, even at the equatorial region. I'm not alone here though. Well, I'm not the only force on this planet. Within moments, my suit's ai detected multiple hostile signals across the planet, with more probably bound to show up on this planet. Speaking of this planet... WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND NAMES A PLANET 'Bob,' LIKE, SERIOUSLY!?!

I'm getting worked up over the damned thing's name, as if it could feel and care about the issue. And I suppose I didn't just stretch my legs. Alpha Outpost is a pre-fab structure, and so it lack personality. It also lacked a key system: inventory sorting and storage allocation. I pull the needed resources and set up the necessary programming block and timer block, build them, and set up the ISY Inventory Script. Once that is running, I immediately kill it to reset the cargo allocation, spreading my limited resources across the abundance of cargo containers around the base. Note to self: compile inventory list, probably do it periodically, or see if the Inventory Script can compile it for me. Also set up one LCD for the Script to visualize used cargo space and evaluate if the script is running without having to interface with the programming block's GUI.

While I was stretching my legs, I ran around the base. Apparently as the base was being prefab'd, the damned atmospheric miner and grinder/welder ships were disconnected from the base connectors and were burning through the energy stored in their batteries, and probably the fuel in their reactors too. So I had to ground them, and get them to recharge, drawing power from the base. I also ran out and cut power from the ore detector antenna, though I may have to run out there again as my suit's own GUI still keeps pinging several ore veins, which I find highly distracting. To finish the day, I moved around the base and removed the unnecessary air vents, as they were drawing power and doing nothing as the planet is Earth-like, and thus has a stable atmospheric oxygen concentration. Following that, I stopped by the Medical Room to provide a cell sample, just in case I get into an accident that I can't walk away from.

AN:

I have expanded my FanFiction purview to include one of my favorite video games. I have put in approximately 510 hours into Space Engineers and still feel as though I've only scratched the surface. The survival scenario was inspired by several prominent survival series on YouTube. As always, read, review, rate, and follow. Those are all cool and stuff. Haters are going to hate, but for those who appreciate: *insert Titanium music video*
