Jade blinked. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. What the hell was this?
"Beck," She said bitterness sleazing down her tongue. "What the FUCK is this?" She said as the gigantic burst of wanting to tear out this "present" came bursting through her.
Beck hid his face behind the enormous pink bear…..PINK. Jade hates the color…and he knew it.
"It was the only one left." Beck tried to hide his laughter, but failed completely. Jade was red with fury. "Besides, pink is a nice, pretty color, I don't get why you hate it so much."
Jade rolled her eyes.
"Because pink reminds me of spring; where all my allergies go crazy." Jade said as she looked away, it was always easier to look away and not stare at his gorgeous brown eyes.
Beck smiled. "This isn't actually your gift." Beck laughed, Jade was wide eyed.
"And who is this for then?" Jade fumed.
Beck laughed that famous little chuckle that made her heart melt. "It's for my mom."
Jade blushed from embarrassment. "Oh yeah, I forgot you give your mom's birthday is tomorrow." She crossed her arms. 'So, are we going to the movies or what?"
Beck laughed and placed the bear on the floor. "Yeah, but before we go…" Beck stood up from the bed and left his RV for a couple of seconds with the bear, he came back with his left hand hiding something behind his back. "THIS is for you." He said as he got out a bouquet of black roses, black, now that was a color she liked, well loved is the more reasonable word.
Jade smiled, but at the instant she knew she smiled, she made it disappear. She looked over them with her icy blue eyes. "They have thorns."
"What?"
"They have thorns, I might cut myself." She said, Beck knew at that instant that she was faking everything. She was trying to keep her tough girl image.
He placed the roses aside and kissed her forehead.
"Every rose has its thorn. They are beautiful, but not perfect, just like you, Jade." Beck said, Jade blushed. "And you should smile more often; you're beautiful when you do."
Jade kissed him. "Happy two-year anniversary, you cliché-romantic of a boyfriend."
"I love you too, Jade, Happy two year anniversary."
