Before you read this, let me clearify that when I started writing this I didn't realise that Ed and Al were only one year apart in age. I thought Ed was at least two years older or somethin. So for this story, Edward Elric is old enough to walk and talk (and smart off) while Alphonse is in his squishy, staring baby stage. It's cute though!
"Come on Al, this isn't Alchemy."
Edward said to his baby brother. He was sitting on a pile of blankets as Ed rolled one of the bottles on the floor. Alphonse's big brown eyes watched his brother, who was old enough to use a sippy-cup.
"It's easy, just get up!"
Ed instructed, standing up. His training pants scrunched as he moved. Al just opened his mouth with a bubbly laugh.
"Ew."
Ed wiped his brother's gooey mouth.
"I'll help you."
Ed grabbed the baby's chubby little arms straining to lift him up onto his feet.
"Now walk!"
As soon as he let go , Al tumbled safely onto the blankets.
"What a dumb baby. I can't believe I have to teach you everything."
Al, still laying on his tummy laughed happily at his brother. Their mother came into the room , she hadn't left them alone very long.
"I was just cleaning your mess Edward. Your spaghetti-o's are all over the place."
"I was painting!"
He objected. Trisha Elric sighed.
"And it was pretty Ed."
She spotted the bottle across the living room.
"What are you two doing in here?"
"Teaching Alphonse to walk."
He pronounced his brother's name like "All-fonce"
"Oh really?"
As she went towards the bottle, Ed scrunched up his face and made a startled sweak, as he wet himself.
"Ahhh..."
Trisha looked over at him, and the warm pee dripping down from his shorts.
"Oh Edward!"
She quickly scooped him up and rushed to the bathroom.
"Ew that's yucky Ed!"
"What? I didn't do anything!"
Little Al sat quietly, he made a little baby-grunt and fidgetted. With determination he watched the bottle, then bobbed for a bit, thinking of how Ed could get up so easily. With a huff Al straightened his legs so he was actually standing.
Recently, with the help of Ed, Al had already stood twice. But the bottle that he desired made him put a foot foreward, and another, and again. He huffed with every step, it wasn't so hard.
When Al had waddled almost to the bottle, Ed emerged from the bathroom, tugging a clean pair of shorts up. When he saw Al walking he yelled happily
"Al! You're walking!"
He started Al, so he stumbled but Ed caught him.
"He walked! He walked!"
He lifted Al up, lugging him away from the bottle. As Al watched over Ed's shoulder, getting farther and farther away from the bottle, he started bawling.
