I don't own anything to do with Eragon or this song, Cry- James Blunt.

I have seen peace. I have seen pain,
Resting on the shoulders of your name.
Do you see the truth through all their lies?
Do you see the world through troubled eyes?
And if you want to talk about it anymore,
Lie here on the floor and cry on my shoulder,
I'm a friend.

The sapphire dragon watched her Rider, he was weary and speechless. His dark hair wet from his sweat of his aching muscles and his struggles. A single tear ran from his eye and down his cheek. It fell from his chin and cascaded down, it scattered into its thousands as it hit his armour and disappeared. He wiped the tear's trail from his face and looked up. The dragon felt his emotions deep in her heart and wanted to help him, she was his friend.

I have seen birth. I have seen death.
Lived to see a lover's final breath.
Do you see my guilt? Should I feel a fright?
Is the fire of hesitation burning bright?
And if you want to talk about it once again,
On you I depend. I'll cry on your shoulder.
You're a friend.

She too felt betrayed and wanted him to come to her, she needed him. But her Rider refused help from her. It was her fault, she believed. She should have protected him and this is what was eating her up inside. She was guilty and wanted to apologise.

You and I have lived through many things.
I'll hold on to your heart.
I wouldn't cry for anything,
But don't go tearing your life apart.

The dragon knew he was blaming himself, she knew him too well, they had been together long enough. The Rider looked at his dragon, he thought it was his fault he could have saved his friend, his brother. The Varden would fail, because of him. He'd lost his friend and could no longer reach him. The Varden will perish under the Empire because he couldn't save his brother.

I have seen fear. I have seen faith.
Seen the look of anger on your face.
And if you want to talk about what will be,
Come and sit with me, and cry on my shoulder,
I'm a friend.

The dragon saw more tears fall, along with his anger in his face. She wanted to help him and he needed it. He'd been betrayed and it wasn't by a friend but his brother. His blood. But she knew he needed to be stronger than ever before, the Varden needs him. But also he needed time to regain his beliefs and accept the truth, to tell her what he thinks will be.

And if you want to talk about it anymore,
Lie here on the floor and cry on my shoulder,
Once again.
Cry on my shoulder,
I'm a friend.

She was his as much as he was hers. That one could not live with out the other. He needed to remember that, she was here for him; she was his friend and more. She was his thoughts and half of him. The Rider struggled to his feet and sat besides his sapphire dragon. His tears fell and looked to Saphira. I am your friend little one.
