The boy was venturing, step by step, into the dark depths of the catacombs, hidden for centuries by the well's water.
He was barely breathing due to the unbearable humidity, but he had to proceed, the treasure was too precious for him, with that ancient artifact he would manage to survive into the Shadow Temple and disclose its illusions.
After the room of the cages, where stains of blood were splattered everywhere, on the floor, the walls and even the bars of the cells (what was their purpose was obscure to the boy), the last remains of courage faded off from him; uneasiness and fear ruled his soul when he was about to climb down the grating covered by saltpetre, when he was proceeding through the claustrophobic passage beyond the treasure chest. He easily got rid of the Skulltula which suddenly appeared from the ceiling (after Gibdos and ReDeads defeating such a creature was a piece of cake).
He passed through an rusty and tarnished door, but after a few steps he heard a loud noise, the door had shut, leaving him in complete darkness and preventing his companion to follow him: this was his ruin. If Navi had been there she would be able to shout at him with one of her "hey, listen" or "watch out" and advise the boy about the hand which was grabbing at him. It wasn't a Floor Master (defeated in the Cages Room) but a white and slender hand, whose sharp nails sank into his shoulder blades, letting him shout loud scream while blood was dripping down his back. He tried to free himself, to reach the Kokiri Sword, but unsuccessfuly. Then he heard something slowly creeping towards him and then snapping at his jugular vein. If Navi had been there she would have been able to save him or not -who knows- but surely she would have lit a creature with a pallid face, empty orbits, jaws covered of blood and surrounded by the corpses of all the wretched who, like the boy, ended up in her HANDS.
