My first TNG story! I didn't write a TOS FanFiction until I'd nearly completed the series; well, I'm nowhere near the end of TNG, but I wrote one anyway. Next Generation is longer, and I couldn't wait any more. This takes place during Captain's Holiday.
Wesley Crusher spun around in his chair. There was something troubling him. Actually it had been troubling him for nearly two days; aside from what had been bothering the rest of the crew. The seventeen-year-old twirled around again, trying to concentrate on something else. You're over thinking this, Wes. It's just a vacation.
"Something wrong, Ensign Crusher?" asked Commander William Riker, who was, currently commanding the U.S.S. Enterprise-D.
"I was just wondering, Sir, why you insisted that Captain Picard spend his vacation on Risa," Wesley questioned. He knew about Risa.
"And why not?" The First Officer's expression quickly changed from concerned to amused.
"Well, Risa has a certain… reputation," Wesley pressed. He knew that Riker knew what he was thinking.
"Reputation? You mean as a tourist planet? As far as I'm concerned, that's precisely what the Captain needs." Riker's smirk got wider.
"You know what I mean, Commander."
"I believe that Ensign Crusher is referring to Risa's reputation as a 'Pleasure Planet.' Risians are well known for their rather open sexuality. In fact, the Horga'hn, the souvenir you requested, is used to display a desire for Jamaharon, a kind of sexual—"
"That's quite enough, Data," said Riker, quickly cutting off Lieutenant Commander Data's dictionary definition of Jamaharon, which would have been interesting, if not entirely inappropriate.
"You asked him to get you WHAT?" Wesley asked, astonished.
"Just something that will inevitably make his experience more… stimulating," Riker said with a grin he was unable to conceal. Consequently, almost the entire bridge, excepting Worf and Data, crew found it difficult to mask their obvious forms of amusement.
Poor Wesley.
"… You sent him to Risa so he could… you think he needs to—"
"One day you'll understand the needs of a… grown man, Wesley. But Captain Picard has been under great stress of lately, and a vacation is exactly what he needs. Besides, Risa is a tourist planet; there's something there for everyone, including Captain Picard. I assure you that there is nothing to worry about," Counselor Deanna Troi insisted, sensing the emotions of the obviously horrified Wesley Crusher.
"I'm never going to Risa," Wesley vowed under his breath after a silence, then turned back to his station.
Beside him, Data raised an eyebrow, but then put it back down, realizing he probably didn't want to know.
Tell me what you think! I want to know how my first endeavor on the Enterprise-D went.
