It seems like a normal day. But Dick knows that is isn't a normal day.
He goes to school. He greets some schoolfriends and goes to his locker. With an ungood feeling in his stomache, he opens his locker. Shocked and afraid he sees a dead bat in a box. There is a letter infront.
"I'll get you and before I'll take everything that is important to you away."
Silence.
Dick looks around. Nobody is there. He is alone on the floor. At this moment he realizes that he is not only alone on the floor, but in the whole school. All of his classmates are gone, there are no teachers. Nobody.
In this moment the lights turn off. Dick breaths slowly. His heart is beating so loud that he can hear it pounding in his head.
What is that ?
Dick holds on his air.
He can hear steps on the floor. Slowly but still audible.
Who is it?
A voice of a man starts to talk, from the end of the floor.
"Hey, little boy, I know your secret. I know everything about you, and your family. What happened to your real parents, and about the man you live with."
The voice starts to laugh.
Loud and sharp.
Dick's legs begin to run. He runs as fast as he can. He runs away from the voice, away from the laugh.
Dick stops running. Now he walks slowly. He enters the school libary, and closes the door.
He sits down under a table. Pulling his knees to his chest, he starts to rock back and for.
At this moment the speacker turns on.
"Heiho little boy, Dick Grayson, or shall I say Robin. The little boy from Batman. That is who you are. And I know it. You can run away from me, but I know your secret and one day I'll find you. I catch you. And I do the same to you that happened to your parents."
The voice stops talking. But at this moment a melody starts to play.
Dick stops breathing. With wide eyes he listens to the music. Tears fill his eyes, he begins to scream and clenches his hands to a fist. He punches the ground with his hands.
"... Dick ... Dick ... Richard."
This voice, he knows this voice.
"Richard !"
The voice sounds concerned. Dick opens his eyes. He looks in the face of an older man. It's him.
"Bruce?"
With a loud sob he throws himself in Bruce's arms. The older man takes the little boy in his arms, holds him close to his chest he began to stroke Dick's head.
"It's okay Dick, it's over. It was only a dream and now I am here."
But the little boy presses his head at Bruces chest. Bruce looks at his boy. Tears are running over his face. Bruce begins to swing the little boy.
"Tell me what were you dreaming?", Bruce said to the young boy.
Dick starts to tell the older man about the dream.
" And then before you woke me up , there was this melody. It was the music that starts at the show from my parents and me."
Sniffing Dick looks up to Bruce.
The older man understands what this dream means for Dick. He feels helpless because his little boy was crying in his arms.
"Dick?" Bruce raises his voice.
"I think for tonight it is better that you sleep in my room. If you sleep next to me, there will be no bad dreams. And if still one comes I'll wake you up.
The little boy nods.
With a calm smile Bruce takes the boy and carries him in his bed. As he lay the boy in his bed he notices that Dick had stopped crying. He looks at Bruce.
Bruce takes the blanket and puts it over Dick. He leans down and kisses the little boy on the forehead.
As he turns around Dick wants to say something, because it looks as if Bruce wants to leave the room.
Bruce looks at Dick again, smiles and sais: "Don't worry I'll stay." With these words the older man lays down on the bed, next to Dick.
"Okay.", said the young boy, with a calm smile.
He snuggels at Bruce and starts sleeping.
Bruce puts his hands around the little boy and closes his eyes.
"You are forever, my one and only,
You are my son."
