Green and red blades clashed, buzzing at the contact.
The young Zabrak shoved the taller, older man's lightsaber up, hit him in the chin, stunning him, and stabbed him through the middle.
"Nooooooo!"
Dooku sat bolt upright in bed, breathing heavily, sweating a little. As his heart rate and breathing returned to normal, he sighed and laid back down.
He had been plauged by dreams of his old Padawan's death since his encounter with Obi-Wan at the start of the Clone Wars, but they had been worse the past few nights. Tonight's was the worst one yet.
He sighed again and got up, knowing that sleep was not going to come to him any time soon.
Wrapping his robe around him, the tall Count went into the kitchen and made a cup of tea.
His thoughts returned to his late Padawan as he made his drink. The news of his death had left a hole in his heart and soul that would never be filled again.
He took a drink of his tea.
"Master."
He looked around, startled. He listened closely but heard nothing.
"I need more sleep. I'm starting to hear things," he muttered to himself before taking another drink.
"Master."
He spat out the tea in his mouth. He knewhe had heard something this time! He had heard his old Padawan.
"Qui-Gon?"
"Why? Why, Master?"
Dooku swallowed hard as he tried in vain to steady his now shaking hands.
"Master."
He spun around and dropped the cup of tea. The tea spilled all over as the cup shattered, but he didn't care.
He stared at the bluish figure before him.
"Q-Qui-Gon?" he stammered.
"Why have you betrayed me, Master?" the figure asked, taking a step towards the Count, holding out a hand.
Dooku slowly began to back away from the ghost.
"No. Stay away from me. Leave me alone."
"Master."
The tone of his voice made Dooku look.
The transparent eyes of the ghost before him weren't the eyes of the man he saw, they were the eyes of his twelve year old Padawan giving him a questioning look of hurt when he brushed him away at his request for help.
"I'm sorry," he said softly, more to himself than Qui-Gon's ghost.
"You have betrayed everything you were taught, everything you taught me."
Dooku bowed his head, hearing these words in shame.
"Tonight the past will haunt you. Whether you're asleep or awake, you will be haunted."
The figure disappeared.
