Elizabeth and Oliver had a happy life together. The one thing they were missing was a child. One day when Elizabeth was going for a walk she found an abandon baby in the woods. The baby was dirty, hungry and crying. Maternal instincts kicked in right away as she picked the infant up.
What are you," Elizabeth whispered softly to the baby. She took off the filthy diaper and threw it far into the woods.
"A girl," she said, "Well you need a name."
She looked up at the sky.
"How about Skye," she said.
Obviously the baby couldn't talk. She had no idea what Elizabeth was talking about.
"We'll get you to my house," Elizabeth said, "We'll warm you up quicker then a wink."
It was only a short walk to the home. Once she got there she lay the baby gently on the soft floor and started filling a basin of warm water.
She put the baby in the warm water just as Oliver walked in.
"What's this," he half asked, half demanded softly.
"Skye," Elizabeth said, "I found her abandoned in the woods dirty and hungry and cold."
"Skye? I like that," Oliver said, "But we have no diapers or food for her."
Elizabeth looked at her husband.
"I'll go to market and get the things," he said.
Skye grew up a happy sweet child. One day tragedy struck. She became ill. Nothing could cure her and she died. That would be the end of the story if it weren't for the witch that lived across from the baker and his wife.
