The battle between Itachi and Sasuke was getting to an end. It had to, Itachi didn't have much time to live anymore and he had to give his little brother the revenge that he so much desired. He was very happy to see his brother and he was glad that his beloved little brother's face will be the last one he will ever see.

I told a lot of white lies to hide it all

They're beginning to bring me down

But I promise is over now

His all life was a lie, a complete lie. He was a pacifist and he loved his Sasuke. He didn't want to do what he did but he had to. So that Sasuke will not witness the cruelty of war, at such a young age. He lied to him, pushing him on the road of revenge.

I tried my best to keep it all together

Tried to take it back to where we were

I'll give you reasons but for what is worth

Eventually Sasuke fled Konoha to join Orochimaru so that he will be strong enough to kill Itachi. But that was OK with him, because by killing the S-class criminal he will be able to return to Konoha and regarded as a hero. 'You asked me why Sasuke, I couldn't tell you the truth.'

What the hell would make you look at me the same

I used to say "We're unbreakable"

But I just went and changed it all

'How much I wish you would look at me the same you did back then Sasuke. But I'll stick to my word. I once told you that I'll be there for you no matter what, even just as an obstacle for you to overcome, even if you'll hate. Because that's what big brothers are for.'

Once Orochimaru took over Sasuke's body he released the eight-headed serpent jutsu and fought Itachi.

Itachi used the Totsuka blade and sealed Orochimaru's being even if it took a tool on his body bringing him closer to death.

'Sasuke, I will never regret dying for you. Be strong and protect Konoha my brother.'

Itachi stepped closer to the frozen Sasuke keeping his act.

'Cause after all the things that you did for me

I got beaten by temptation

I'm gone

He raised his right hand intending on taking Sasuke's eyes but instead he poked his forehead smiling just as he did when they were young.

Girl you're better off alone

And I don't want you to see

The truth in me, that's why I'm gone…

"Sorry Sasuke…this is the last time."

And with this, Uchiha Itachi closed his eyes for eternity.
