Kat: This was sudden inspiration really. And I mean sudden - I was browsing through Goku fanfics on the search engine while thinking about D.Gray-Man and Naruto!

Man, I've been swamped lately! Between schoolwork, friends, and family I've barley had any time to write anything! I've been able to get some writing time in during my study block, but damn if I'm not tired by then. My study block is at the end of the day...

I've been working on an original story in between fics. It's a kind of inspiration based story, because I will suddenly get an idea for it, start jotting notes or actually working on the story (I'm on the third chapter of it so far). But, if I take a break from it, I'll come back, try to write, can't, then listen to music. (Sigh) Why so complicated?! Anyway, it's kind of a vampire romance story. I know, I know, old hats, butI took that original concept of vampire romances and twisted it up and made it my own. MWAHAHA!! I'll probably write a bit more about it on my profile(Which I really need to clean up, it's far too long...) so, check it out if you're interested.

Meantime, enjoy my newest ficcie!

So Quiet

Son Goku loved all things, especially beautiful things. But there was always one beauty in the world that he could not love. Goku hated this kind of beauty, the beauty that surrounded him now.

Goku hated this beauty called snow.

'Why do I hate it?' he wondered to himself, watching the graceful white snowflakes dance down to the earth from his window in the end. 'Oh...that's right...' He glanced around the empty room; he glanced down at the empty streets, up to the empty trees.

'Because when it snows...everything is so silent.'

Goku suddenly felt the weight of his years bear down upon him, the memories of his winters in the mountain ripping into his mind. The unbearable silence of the cave for such long periods of time...

No birds singing... no leaves rustling... no little animals playing around...

It was just quiet.

It was so quiet.

Goku felt the tears begin to burn down his cheeks, and for once he didn't have to, or want to hide them. The others had their own rooms anyway, so Goku cried. He let the loud sobs of his anguish fill the room, disrupting the unbearable quiet. Because when there was snow, tears were all he had...

Little Goku looked out at the snowflakes falling from the sky, dancing to an unheard melody. Goku wished he could hear that melody, so he could dance too, so things wouldn't be so... so... Goku didn't know the word for the unbearable nothing in the air around him.

'Why isn't there sound?' he wondered to himself. 'Why is it so...whatever it is?'

Suddenly, the word came to him. It was quiet. This thing around him, it was quiet.

Goku hated the quiet.

The boy glared out at the snow falling from the sky.

Goku hated the snow.

He pulled at his chains, wanting to go and mess up the pretty snow for being quiet.

Goku hated his shackles.

Goku bit his lip unhappily when he got nowhere. Tears burned at his eyes, and he let them fall.

Goku hated his weakness.

He curled up into himself and sobbed and loud and as hard as he could, breaking the awful silence around him. He sobbed long and loud, not stopping even when his throat began to feel raw. He sobbed and sobbed and sobbed...

Because his tears where the only thing that could save him.

They were only thing that could save him from this horrible, maddening feeling.

This dreadful thing that kept coming back, this thing that wouldn't leave him alone...

"It's so quiet..." he sobbed. "So quiet..."

And Goku was so alone.
