Here is the original tumblr prompt/Announcement made by I'mWishingforaStarRod that started all of this delightful shippy madness.
All of our comments are kept with our alternating responses, italicized and bracketed for distinction, for the purposes of prosperity and because it adds an extra bit of hilarity on it's own.
WE HOPE YOU ENJOY.
[I'm going to spread the word of this (AU I guess :/ )
BECAUSE WHYYYYYYYY NOT
So my good friend Lobstronomousskeleton and I were discussing Fiddlestan headcanons, when I wanted to write some cutesy fluff between them, but couldn't realy find the right setting for it. I was scrolling through my likes, beginning to get bored, when I found the (AMAZING) Kid McGucket Stoos Kids AU drawing that CrispyStar did and the (AMAZING) Mystery Trio Electron Carpet comic by Hereissomething. Suddenly a lightbulb went off in my head.
SO HERE I PRESENT TO YOU FOR THE APPROVAL OF THE MIDNIGHT SOCIETY OF THE BLIND EYE:

So in this AU, the Mystery Trio invent the electron carpet, not knowing what it does. Stanford and Fiddleford end up testing it out.
Instead of swapping bodies, like it does in the show, something unexplainable happens. Stanford and Fiddleford are somehow turned into ten-year olds.
They both scream and freak out, and try to switch back, but of course there's no static charge any more. They're stuck.
They still have all their memories and everything, but they're basically thirty-something year old men trapped in a ten-year old's body. At least at first.
See, kind of like how Dipper in Mabel's body screams "Open the door, Dipper!" In Carpet Diem, there's a side effect to being in that state for a long period of time. The longer they look like children, the more they think and act like children. After a while that childhood innocence sets in and Stanley doesn't know if the change'll be permanent, and he's forbidden Fids to help him with any of it. (He tried to help at first but didn't really do much and ended up getting a migraine because of the mental strain he gave himself working on mathy-stuff)
Stanford starts wearing his glasses again, he stops slicking his hair back, he either wears a red plaid shirt and overalls or a white tee and shorts. (Stanleys got old clothes boxed up in his room) He stops swearing, and he's more nervous and scaredey-cat-like than he was. He even sheds a few tears when Fids gets hurt, though he'll deny it afterward. He clings to Fiddleford like a security blanket.
Fiddleford is a bit more reckless now and will sometimes drag Stanford into the woods with him so they can go on adventures. He loves spending time with Stan but gets a little annoyed that he's become his shadow. He daydreams more and usually doodles on his paper instead of actually doing work. He has to wear the Stan Twins' old clothes (which are a little too big for him), and he used to wear his tie until Stanford used it to pull him into a kiss. Fiddleford was too nervous to wear it after that.
Stanley is basically the overprotective parent. He is scared to death that the kids are going to get themselves hurt when he leaves them alone, so he doesn't let them leave the shack. (Stanford and Fids break this rule on more than one occasion; they love exploring in the woods.) Stanley has to work on fixing the carpet on his own, but it's extremely difficult and he doesn't get a lot done. He's worried about his brother and lab assistant slowly becoming more and more like kids, and has come to the conclusion that the change may be permanent, but keeps looking for another way to solve the problem. He is usually the one to get Stan and Fids out of trouble. ("Hey, Fids- Why are you covered in scratches?" "No time for that- Stan's stuck in a tree and can't get down." "I TOLD YOU NOT TO GO OUTSIDE" "And we ignored you.")
[Yeesh, this was kinda long! Thanks to those that read all of it- it means a lot! Special thanks to Lobstronomousskeleton for headcanoning with me! Please tell me what you think of this AU!]
