Byakuya was doing paperwork, as usual. The day was completely normal, and all so beautifully quiet, because Renji was nowhere to be seen. A rare smile graced his lips, ah…peace and quiet. Hmm… maybe he should take a break. After all, he never took time off. His paperwork was always done on time, before that, even. So, why not take a little break, he deserved it.
Byakuya sat up with purpose, putting his pen vertical on the desk, right next to the page he was working on.
Heck, why not go all the way. He picked the pen up and set it randomly on the desk. He smiled. If only Renji could see him now…
If he was going all the way, why not go ALL the way. He took off his scarf, gloves, captain's coat, and kenseikan, throwing them onto the desk. Then, he walked outside, and laid under a tree, looking at the cherry blossoms moving softly in the wind. His sword lay beside him. This particular tree was out of sight of the 6th Division, so there would be no one to disturb him.
Soon, Byakuya Kuchiki was asleep.

"Captain!" Renji ran into the office, looking for his captain. He didn't see him, and walking over to his desk found his gloves, scarf, captain's coat, and kenseikan thrown on top of it, haphazardly. He stared at them. Something must have happened to the captain! He would never, ever throw his stuff onto the desk like that. Or place the pen in that position. He had to go alert the Captain-General! His captain had been kidnapped, or, or, something else which Renji couldn't think of! He ran off to the 1st Division.

Byakuya, slightly awake, was faintly aware of his name being called. But he dismissed it, and fell back into a deeper sleep.
Renji, who was searching through the trees, it was now an hour since his discovery, and the entire Gotei 13 was looking all over the Seireitei and Rukongai, spotted a black blob by a tree.
"Captain!" he yelled as he recognized his captain. "Captain Kuchiki! Are you all right?" Renji was quite loud, and Byakuya opened an eye.
"Captain, are you ok? What happened?"
He sat up slowly, then stood, grabbing his sword. The look on his face made Renji step back several steps.
"I'll tell you what happened. You ruined my nap, and my break, and my mood." He took a step closer, and closer, while Renji took a step back, and another, until his back ran against a tree.
"Scatter."
A scream was heard throughout the Soul Society, and no one asked when Renji appeared the next day covered in bandages. Yamamoto didn't even say a thing to Renji about the false alarm. He felt he didn't need to, Byakuya's wrath was punishment enough.
