Life day, the day of celebrating life that had originated with the Wookiees. Rey had heard of the holiday from junkers visiting Jakku, but had never had the proper opportunity to celebrate it. She'd always imagined joyus festivities with friends and family, singing songs and eating delicacies from around the galaxy. It was the morning of Life Day Eve and Finn, BB-8, Chewbacca, Rose, and Poe were all bustling about the Falcon. The General still recovering had noticed Rey and pulled her aside. "You aren't supposed to see what they're doing yet...they want you to be surprised." The General smiled at the young woman. "I've never had a Life Day celebration...I don't know what to expect...though, I did get small gifts for everyone." Rey beamed as she looked at Leia. She pulled out a small box and handed it to the general, inside was a piece of the Kyber crystal that was used in the lightsaber that broke in the battle between her and Ben. "It was your father's...and Luke's, it was supposed to be Ben's...wasn't it?" Perhaps it wasn't the best gift to be giving her, but the smile on Leia's face spoke otherwise. A gentle thank you from the elder woman in which she slipped the crystal into a small pocket inside of her dress. Rey slipped off away from the General and stepped outside, watching the sky for signs of change. She hadn't been sure what to look for on a remote planet but she had hoped miracles would happen. She had already witnessed things others wouldn't believe in a million years. Lightsabers, Jedi...what was one more mythical legend to her? Since nothing was happening outside and she was refused to see the decorations, she decided it was best to rest. Back into bed and now several hours had passed, Rey awoke to the gentle push of Poe's hand on her shoulder. Her smile greeted his as she slowly sat up and adjusted her eyes to being aware. She made her way into the hub of the Falcon, seeing BB-8, Rose, Finn, Leia, Chewie, and Poe surrounding a holographic tree decorated with baubles and tiny presents on the ground. "Oh!" She exclaimed, running to get her gifts and coming back with her arms full. For Rose she had crafted a small wooden Porg, for Finn she had crafted a small medallion. "For the bravest member of the resistance." She smiled and pinned it to his jacket. She had given Chewie a basket full of fish that she had caught while living on Ahch-To with Luke. A small nod given to Leia and finally, reaching Poe. Rey had saved his for last. "Here...I wanted you to have this." She held out the small x-wing pilot doll she had crafted as a young girl. "I made it, when I was little...it was my dream to meet a real life X-wing pilot." She smiled wide as Poe took the doll from her with a smile on his face. For her - it wasn't about the presents. She was finally surrounded by people who she could call family, she could call home. A place where she belonged.
