Katara sat under the shade of a pagoda roof, taking a break from her own bending practice to watch as Sokka and Suki spared, Toph bending the arena constantly into new forms to add to the challenge. By this time, the war was fading further and further into the past, and yet they were all still here, meeting together whenever their busy lives let them. Suki flipped off a rock pillar that had risen bellow her to strike a blow to Sokka's side before seeking shelter from the ever changing landscape. Toph tossed some verbal jab out that Katara couldn't hear but sparked laughter from Suki and a shouted "Hey!" from Sokka. She smiled though, as Sokka bolted after Suki for his revenge, catching her around the waist only to be flipped on his back by her and left once more in the dust.

"I believe their break up was the amicable one in history," a voice said from behind her, as the Fire Lord stepped forward to sit at her side. Katara hummed in agreement, and then gave another little chuckle, causing Zuko to look her way curiously. "What?" he asked.

"Oh, I was just thinking of before all this, before Aang and you so "rudely" entered my brother and my lives," Katara explained, looking briefly at Zuko and then back to the sparing session. Toph had seemed to officially joined, leaving the field a mess of earthen obstacles. Katara wasn't sure if she had joined someone's side, or had just added another rouge factor. She didn't seem to be using her bending though. "Back then I don't think I could even picture my brother not expressing and living the sexism that plagues the Water Tribes. I certainly couldn't see him best friends with two powerful women warriors. And yet here he is." Katara couldn't help but smile.

Zuko nodded, trying picture living a life of seeing women somehow less than men. It wasn't a reality he experienced growing up within the Fire Nation. "Well, I must say, haven't the three of them gotten closer over the years?" he focused his attention back to the three in the arena.

"Possibly even more so since the breakup, isn't it odd?" Katara said, still smiling. "I got to admit some jealously, I think those two see more of my brother than I do."

"At least you know he is in good hands," Zuko pointed out. He winced as Toph tripped Sokka. "Well, at least when they're not beating the sea prunes out of him."

"He seems happy," Katara said. "And that feels good, to know that he is has happy as I am, even if our work always seems to be across the world from each other." Sokka had been defeated and the three were heading their way, Sokka's arms slung companionably over Suki's and Toph's shoulders, the three of them laughing and talking. Katara's content smile continued as she waved to them, and Sokka waved back. "He's happy."
