A/N: Enjoy, I guess!
"C'mon, just one more jump you great big—oh no."
"Crap!"
"You gotta be kidding me, Link." Midna flew down to the ledge he was hanging from, and reached out a hand to catch the Twilight Crystal that was supposed to control his transformations. They'd hit a couple of… snags, lately, when Link had been a wolf for more than twenty or so minutes. "You can't have waited ten more seconds to turn human?"
"It's not my fault, it's the sword!" Link replied, angrily, as he dug in his fingers to hang on to the incredibly small ledge. It was one thing to use a ledge like this for purchase to jump from as a wolf, but as a human? He was lucky he'd caught himself before he'd fallen over backwards.
"Can't you tell the sword to stop?" Midna asked, sending him an annoyed look.
"No!" Link snapped. He sent a glance over his shoulder at the Master Sword, which was glowing almost angrily. "I don't think it'd listen, and more importantly, I'm worried about what would happen if it did? What if I got stuck as a wolf forever?"
"You wouldn't."Midna rolled her eyes. "I can turn you into a human just as well as that sword can!"
"But- but what if something happens to you?" Link looked down so he didn't have to look Midna in the eye, but instantly regretted it. The drop was pretty big. He squeezed his eyes shut and gritted his teeth. "I- I wouldn't want to be a wolf forever!"
Midna giggled. "Why do I get the feeling there's another reason you're worried about something happening to me?"
"CAN YOU FORGET THAT AND JUST- just-" Link swallowed. "I want down. I don't think I can hang on any longer."
"Then just let go," Midna said. "The drop's not that bad!"
"Yes it is!"
"It's ten feet! Maybe! At worst you'll twist your ankle."
"I'd really rather not twist my ankle."
"But a soak in one of those Spirit Springs would fix you right up—"
"Yeah, if I sat in it all day." Link scoffed. "I know those springs better than you do."
"Well, there's not another way down," Midna laughed. "So I mean, if you want to stay up here for forever, that's fine. I'm not feeding you, though."
"Dangit, Midna! Can't you use your magic to slow down the fall or something?"
"Why? I've seen you jump out of trees higher than this? You'll be fine!"
"Midna!"
"Hmm, so much for being a courageous hero—"
"Midna, I swear! I will— crap!" One of his hands slipped, and Link frantically grabbed at the ledge again. "Crap, Midna, please just- just this once. Please I'm scared to let go."
Midna gave him a long look, and then let out a short, annoyed, sigh. Link tried to keep his relief hidden—he knew he had her convinced, but also was wary of her changing her mind at any second.
"I'll count to three," Midna told him. "Let go then, or I'm not helping you."
Link nodded. "Okay."
"One…"
Link took a deep breath. Shut his eyes.
"Two…"
He loosened his fingers a little, so that if his reflexes kicked in, they'd have a harder time catching him.
"Three!"
Link let go.
