Chapter One

(Rose)

My head swirled in different colors as I tumbled into an abyss of darkness. I suddenly felt my eyes open for the first time in what seemed like ages.

"Ow...Damn, that hurt." But wait. I was destroyed, right? I mean, I killed Melbu Frahma, but Ziegg and I were killed in a blast. This couldn't be right...

...What should I do now? I felt different; confused, and my head hurt.

Then, a buzzing sound pierced my ears. I looked up, and saw an army of Virages swarming across the sky. Oh, shit! I thought. I wonder if Dart and the others know...I couldn't take that chance.

Calling on the powers of darkness, I slowly transformed into my Dragoon form. I concentrated on flying, and soon found myself whizzing right towards the army of Virages. They were in my way, and I knew that couldn't stop me. Wielding the Dragon Buster, I sliced through many of the monsters before flying on to the village of Seles.

As I landed I changed back to my regular form and walked the streets of the town I had destroyed many years ago. The screams of the tortured souls still rang in my head. As I turned the corner, I ran into something, soon to be realized as someone, and not just anyone...

"Ouch! Watch where you're going ya big lummix!"

"Meru?" I asked, unsure if she'd remember me. Her gaze met mine, and she dared not speak a word. "It's me Meru, Rose."

"Rose? But how---? You were...destroyed..." Meru stammered.

"That's what I thought," I explained. "But I landed in a strange place and woke up to the Virage armies."

"Really? Wait, how could you be alive, this is still confusing. How do I know you're not lying?"

"Just trust me on this one." I said. "Where are Dart and the others?"

"At Dart's house, why?"

"We need to head out and beat this army or Seles will be destroyed...again."

Meru looked me over, as her Dragoon stone glowed next to mine. She suddenly smiled friendlily and said, "Come with me Rose. Oh, and try not to surprise Haschel. He's getting older and his medications have serious side effects."
