"Who wants more of what?"

"Turkey!" Alek grinned.

"Dressing," Chloe requested.

His brown eyes cut across at her. "You've got to want some more turkey. It's delicious!"

"It's good," Chloe agreed, "but I'd rather have the dressing."

"But cats always prefer meat," Alek whispered and then winced as Chloe kicked him underneath the table. Her green eyes flashed at him, reminding him not to speak of the Mai in front of her mother.

Mrs. King laughed. "There's plenty more of everything to go around," she told them, "and after seconds, we'll have dessert. Who wants dessert?"

Alek grinned, his fangs sparkling. "I've already had dessert. Thank you, Mrs. King, but nothing tastes sweeter than your daughter."

Chloe's eyes fell from his, her face turning a bright red. Her mother coughed and almost choked. "Parent here!" she declared.

"My apologies." Alek smiled broadly as he settled back into his chair, looking quite like the cat who ate the canary. "You just make such wonderful creations."

"Let me help you get those seconds, Mom," Chloe blurted out, and Alek laughed as the women ran back to the kitchen.

"I swear," Chloe said in translation to Alek's comment, "he's just about talking a kiss!"

"He'd better be, young lady!"
