AN: Ducks oncoming missile.
Okay guys, this author is back with a responce for the Alphabet soup Challenge on the forum.
Hooray!
In Gotham, attacks on schools were expected, especially in the aftermath of Scarecrow contaminating the water supplies; however this was a nice bit of Gotham, the bit where the worst that would usually happen would be a robbery or maybe a kidnapping, what people didn't expect was a high school hostage situation, scratch that, an inter-city high school hostage situation.
"Get away! You heard me alien scum, back off!"
Superboy raised an eyebrow at M'Gann, as their adversary continued to brandish a firearm at the gathered students of Happy Harbour High, Central City High and, strangely, Gotham Academy.
"Is he talking to us?" the clone whispered to the Martian,
"Psh, as if," the pair turned to be confronted with Wally, grinning as per usual, despite the gun-wielding fruit-loop standing eight feet away, "I was talking to a couple of those Gotham kids, apparently some virus got into the water last week, made people hallucinate their worst fears,"
Their conversation was interrupted by screams from the gunman,
"No, the dead will rise, not again! Please!"
M'Gann raised an eyebrow at Wally, "And his worst fear is... what? Zombies?"
"Baaraparchuterphobia. It's the fear of space aliens and the dead," a crisp, nasal voice said, the trio turned and were met with Artemis' intimidating glare,
Without so much of a greeting Wally looked around, "What happened to the other two? Barbra Gordon and what's-his-name Grain?"
Artemis rolled her eyes, "Richard Grayson-Wayne," she corrected, "He said he need to go and she went to call her dad,"
"What could her dad do?" M'Gann asked, puzzled,
Before anyone could answer there was the sound of a police siren outside, "This is Commissioner Gordon, you are surrounded, come quietly and no-one will get hurt!"
"That apparently." Artemis said.
M'Gann peered out of the nearby window and saw the police barricade, "All this for just one person?"
A red head walked up and leaned against the wall, smiling slightly, "This is the home of Gotham's finest," she said, "I'm guessing Bruce Wayne pulled some strings,"
"Enough chitchat back there!" the assailant called,
The five turned and noticed that he'd caught a girl by the arm and was waving his handgun in her general direction but, far from looking scared, the white haired girl looked quite bored.
Barbra smirked even wider, "Ooh, that was a mistake." She muttered.
Wally raised and eyebrow, "Why's that?"
Artemis snorted, "I know her by reputation, and she doesn't like being grabbed."
Superboy folded his arms, "So, what? She's scared of it?"
Barbra shook her head, "Nope, she goes ballistic,"
And, right on cue, the man hit the opposite wall with a crash. A familiar cackle echoed about the ceiling. The white haired girl scowled, and muttered, quite audibly, "Took you long enough."
She then rejoined the crowds and waited for the cops to burst in.
