Dreaming or Living?
A flowery scent was on the air, mixed with the salty breeze coming from the peaceful sea. With a hand on her waist and the other touching her round big belly, trying to listen to just the smallest movement, he was trying to understand who he loved more at that moment. Her or their daughter; her was sure it was a girl. They were walking, the three of them at the empty beach, with the sand withdrawing under their feet and the sound of the calm waves while they were reaching the soft golden line of wet sand, he felt he could not have wanted anything more, that he could give his heart and soul for not loosing them. He watched her beautiful bushy brown hair dancing in the breeze, and her eyes sparkling like the sun diving into the sea that moment, filling up the sky with the colors she liked. He wanted to click the clock he used to play chess with, and freeze the picture, to hold it in his heart forever. But then suddenly, he stopped walking and asked her suspiciously, in a worried tone:
"Is this a dream?"
She looked up at him, and with a hand through his lovely red hair, grinning at him, she said:
"And if it was a dream, what? Would you like to wake up? Or do you think reality could not possibly be that good? The question is, what would you do if it was a dream? You would prefer to wake up cause you don't want to be disappointed when you do so, and realize that was all fake, or would you keep living it till the end to see what will happen? Is real life so boring or bad, that you prefer dreaming than living? Do you prefer them all changed? Not only the bad things, but also the good ones? If there was no 'falling', there would be no 'standing up'. If there was no 'I hate' there would be no 'I love'. If there was only good people, there would be no chance to get known of all type of them. If there was no 'fighting', there would be no 'winning' and if there was no decisions, there would be no learning. Dreams can be ideal. We can spend time with people we believe we can't in real life, people who've died, people we want to meet, people we've never met and people we miss. Dreams are much more simple, funny, happy and wanted than reality. In your dreams you can be whatever you want, but in real life you have the chance to change what you are. Scientists tell dreams are even a glimpse at the future, what we were thinking at the moment we've fallen asleep, or just what we like to have, or to be. Here is the point. Would you prefer your-ideal-self into the 'perfect' world, or you would love to be just yourself, in the real world and find your own way to go after your destiny?", she said with her eyes stuck at his blue gorgeous ones, and with a strange and mysterious glory at her face.
"Anyway, it does not do well to dwell on dreams and forget to live."
