The calm, relaxing serenity of night had fallen peacefully upon the African plains once more. The sun had set many hours ago, and the stars that were scattered across the skies were shining vibrantly against the blackness of night. Not a single cloud was among them, and the cool, soothing winds blew peacefully across the savannah, slowly and gently blowing the tall grasses of the place. The pure, clear rivers within the lands flowed slowly and silently as they always had for centuries, disturbed by nothing other than the occasional gust of wind.
And in the center of this African paradise was the enormous, magnificent form that was Pride Rock, a massive citadel that served as the home of the lions of these lands- the Pride Lands. Within the rocky den of the place, the pride of lions and lionesses were calmly and peacefully sleeping amongst one another. But Kiara figured this would happen, remembering what she had heard about the Outlands and knowing for sure that his childhood scars could not simply be erased in a day. He felt like not only the luckiest lion in Africa, but the luckiest living thing on Earth as he silently thanked the Great Kings of the Past for such a godsend that may very well have saved his whole pride's life.

Kiara's eyes suddenly opened all the way now. She stood up about halfway and then rubbed her eyes with her paw, intently looked at her mate when she finished.
"What?" She asked curiously.
It was here that Kovu finally stood up completely on all fours, leaned into her, and then whispered something into her ear. She perked up when he did. As Kovu spoke quietly, a devious smile slowly grew upon Kiara's face when she listened, the same one that was on her mate's at the moment. When Kovu finished speaking, the two of them looked at each other for a while, both smiling very warmly at one another.
"So? What do you say, Kiara?" Kovu asked her with a playful tone clear as day in his voice. As a response, she gave him a loving, almost seductive look and nodded, causing Kovu's face to light up in excitement. She replied,
"You don't know how long I waited for you to ask that."

Kovu replied, "Follow me."

Kovu perked up. "You think so?"

"Well, when we did what we did that day, I knew my father had to move on from his prejudice and help get them away from Zira. After all, she was the whole reason you were the way you were before I helped you out. I... I wanted to give you and your pride a better place to live. You all deserved so much better than what you had with her."

The lioness purred lovingly. "I'll be the best mother that I can be." She replied to him after a moment of silence.
"Same with me as a father."
"I love you, Kovu."
"I love you too, Kiara." Her mate replied.
And soon, the sound of the crickets and insects off in the distance made them drift ever closer to sleep. Kovu rested his head against his mate's neck, digging himself into her warm, moist fur. Author's Note: Originally I was not going to post this because it just isn't me to write a lemon as such, especially with how much I've lambasted many of them before. However, please allow me to explain my intentions behind this story before saying anything.
I was absolutely disgusted at the low quality of the lemon fanfics for just about any pairing around here. There's little to no substance behind them, they're always rushed, riddled with spelling errors, and created just for the sake of having readers getting off on it. (Which is a tad ironic, since I don't doubt that at least someone out there has done that to this by now. But I digress). I wanted there to be at least one where the mating is truly meaningful and is done between two characters who not only consent to it, but really did come together in the films. (A canon pairing, as they're called. I personally really don't like anything that disrupts them, such as Kovu/Nala, Simba/Kiara, Mufasa/Nala, etc. I only stick with canon couples. Kiara and Kovu are my personal favorite pairing in The Lion King, so I chose those two to demonstrate this as best as I could. (Not to mention, I think I can say pretty damn safely that it's inevitable they'd do this at some point anyway).
And please allow me to elaborate further on why I decided to write this: As we all know, many characters in The Lion King have had cubs at some point, and it's very obvious what they had to do for that to happen. Even though I've criticized it in the past, I honestly do think that mating should be acknowledged in the realm of fanfiction, and it doesn't deserve to be ignored since it really is supposed to be a beautiful thing out of love. It's meant to be a miracle that is the source of the creation of life itself; to bring into and give existence to a living, breathing offspring because of two truly loving souls joining together in such a way that it can happen. And that's why I believe mating and the conception of new life really should be properly acknowledged in fanfiction, especially for a film series that's literally all about life and the circle of it.
I understand that mating isn't always for that reason, and that it could be for other purposes in writing also. But I'm no fan of those, so I only choose to acknowledge the main reason why it happens: love. Since the core subject of mating does still deserve to be acknowledged in the proper manner as such, I can only hope that this fanfic will not send the wrong message about anything.
