Crystal: Um, yep, this must seem a bit dark. I don't always write angst, but I been feeling like angst. My first friend died and I feel like writing the pain out. One-shot! P.s. this was before Yugi completed the puzzle.

Forget the tears

Walking down the streets was a young boy, his cloths seem dirty and a bruise was forming on his pale cheek, yet it didn't seem anyone cared. The boy in question gave a bitter laugh as tears fell down his cheeks, not feeling like hiding behind a fake smile; he wasn't at school or at his house, so why pretend? His feet stopped outside his house, he wipe away the rest of his tears and put on a smile, he was prepare to play his part as the happy young boy that his grandpa knew. He grabs his keys from his pocket and un-lock the door, he enters slowly and shuts the door behind him gently.

"Yugi, is that you?" A voice came from the kitchen.

"Yes, Grandpa, it's me." Yugi said as cheerfully as he could.

"Welcome home, my boy, how was school?" Solomon asked.

Yugi wince at the mention of his school and touch his bruise. "It went well, Grandpa, I'm going to my room to do my homework." Yugi lied. He run up the stairs towards his room and shot the door close, his move towards his desk to try to complete the puzzle. He was really close just a few more pieces and then it would be complete. After a few hours, his grandpa took him his dinner, but it was left forgotten at his bed. He was almost done, just one more piece! His hand met and empty box, but how could that be? Feeling frustrated tears staring falling down his face he push his chair back and made his way towards the bed with the puzzle in his hand.

"Now, I'll never get to finish you, my wish would never come true. I don't know why I'm surprised; I should be used to this, right?" He asked his voice laced with bitterness and sadness.

Yugi didn't expect and answer, but sometimes he felt that someone was with him. It was already late and dark, but he didn't mind; he loved the darkness it was like a blanket that protected him and he strangely felt in peace. Yugi push the almost finish puzzle closed to his chest, a few tears still escape his eyes as he felt to sleep. A figure looked at the Yugi sleeping form and sigh while he gently sat-down at his bed.

"Little one, don't give up. You just need one more piece and then, I promise to make you forget all your tears. I will be there and protect you; I will make you happy, truly happy." The figured said softly.

Yugi smile in his sleep and sigh contently, the figured smiled too and chuckle at how cute the little one seem when he was truly smiling. The figured frown when he felt his power weaken and he knew his time outside the puzzle was done, before he despair inside the puzzle he gave one final glance at Yugi, that practically said: 'Hold one just a little longer.'

The next day Yugi didn't know why, but he woke up with a real smile on his face and he felt a warm feeling in his body. Yugi never really understood what was that strange warm feeling was until after a few years later when his Yami kiss him… Love really was something wonderful… maybe that was the reason why Yugi forgot his tears.

Ok, ok, sorry for the grammar mistakes, but writing always help with my emotions. *sigh* Sometimes I wish every story end happily… Anyway I always thought that it was more of Yugi than we see at the TV, I mean his happy and sometimes his sad, scared or angry, but I always thought he was the type to suffer in silence *sigh* Don't flame, please.
