19 year old Raven Takamenay, along with her teammates, 21 year old Takuto Leo, and Ryu, from Konohagakure was sent on a mission with a squad from Kirigakure consisting of 21 year old Amarante, 20 year old Mikomi Doragone, and 23 year old Naito Doragone. The mission was to find a set of scrolls that had been stolen from the two villages. The scrolls held a forbidden jutsu that had been supposedly so dangerous that the original scroll was split into two separate scrolls. One was given to Konoha, and the other was given to Kiri. Both scrolls were stolen and squads from both villages were sent to retrieve the scrolls and apprehend the culprits behind the thefts.
The mission had gone according to the plan that had been put together by the two squad leaders, Raven and Mikomi, until after they had taken back one of the two scrolls. After retrieving the scroll that had been stolen from Konoha, they were caught and attacked by rouge ninja. In an attempt to confuse the enemy ninja, Raven had taken the scroll and all of them fled with fake scrolls, scattering In different directions. Raven ran as fast as she could to get away from the ninja that were after her. She wasn't exactly sure if any of her teammates had survived or not.
Raven dashed through the trees, clutching her twin blades in her hands. She held her left in a defensive position, in front of her chest, while her right was tilted behind her. Her long braid trailed behind her, making it look like she gave off a streak of blue behind her. 'Damn it… I never thought that this mission would go so badly. Falling back on Plan B might not be an option,' Raven thought, trying to make the sound of cracking sticks and leaves beneath her feet as unnoticed as possible. She turned her head to look behind her, trying to see if her pursuers were still trying to catch up or if they had already caught her, when she saw a flash of red. An explosion had gone off from behind her.
Raven felt the heat from the blast hit her as she tumbled forward, dropping her blades in the dirt before her body hit the ground hard. She pushed herself up on her hands and knees, wincing from the stinging in her palms. She sat back on the balls of her feet, brushing her fingertips over her right ankle through her boot, 'I sprang my ankle… One thing after another. I guess that I should be glad that they haven't descended on me yet. After that explosion, there won't be much time. I've got to keep going.' She thought, forcing herself onto her feet and taking off again. She leapt into the trees, hopping from branch to branch.
Raven looked down at her hands. They were scratched up and, much like her clothing and face, were covered in dirt. She hadn't expected this to be an easy mission, but she certainly didn't expect to get separated from the others. She hopped onto a branch, ducking behind a leafy branch. She stopped to look over her shoulder, only to see nothing behind her except for the trees. She panted, reaching her hand up to her neck, clicking the button on her wireless communicator, hoping to hear anything but static. The line sounded dead. She wasn't sure if she was just too far away, or there was no one on the other side to respond. "Damn it!" She exclaimed, slamming the side of her fist against the tree she was using for shelter. She slumped down to her knees, tears welling up in her eyes, blurring her vision. "Damn it…" She put the palm of her hand on the tree for support, as the tears in her eyes poured down her cheeks onto her lap. She tried to wipe the tears away, or simply make them stop falling, when she heard something from her communicator, "Raven?"
