The cold wind stung her skin as she stood at the top of Polis, clutching the rails hard till her fingers are white and numb.
Tears on brimming her eyes as she clenched her jaw. Lexa didn't deserve that, the bullet was for her.
Her body craved for Lexa's warmth, her mind would not stop travelling back to the time they shared in the same bed where Lexa spent her last moments, said her last words.
May We Meet Again.
They always did, their fates were bound together and they always met again and they will meet again.
Clarke sucked in a breath as she felt the warmth of a hand on hers. She recognized that softness and the strength that the hand possessed, there was only one being who could possess such a strong blend of two innate human qualities.
A tear escaped as she looked up to see Lexa looking out front at the horizon, clad in her battle clothes. The soft white light of the moon reflecting off her eyes, her skin.
"You didn't have to leave, your fight wasn't over." Clarke protested, not wanting to let her go.
"My fight is over Clarke. I now rest in a different world. But I believe you'll make the right choices, you'll make the change happen." Lexa said looking into her eyes. Her hand rose to cup Clarke's cheek.
Clarke leaned into her hand and holding it, she placed a soft kiss. She looks up and holding their gaze, she lowers herself to one knee.
"I, Clarke cum Skaikru swear fealty to you Heda. I vow to protect our people, to do what will be in the best interest of our people, to treat the needs of them as my own. I vow to protect them just the way you did." Clarke finished as they held on to each other's hand.
Lexa offered her hand, lifting Clarke off of her knee.
"I trust you, Clarke cum Skaikru." She said and kissed her. Clarke wrapped her hand around her neck, pulling her closer, deepening the kiss.
"You need to let me go." Lexa whispered as she pulled away. Her arm still wrapped around her waist.
"I can't. It hurts." Clarke sobbed and sucked in breath.
"I know." Lexa paused and pressed a hand on Clarke's chest. "I'll always be there with you, my spirit is with you." Lexa said and going around Clarke's neck, she pulled her closer and pressed their lips together.
Clarke felt a sting of pain at her nape and she opened her eyes. Lexa stood there, holding their hands together.
"May We Meet Again, Clarke." Lexa said and disappeared. Clarke still in her confused state, scratched at her nape feeling a vertical bump in her skin, similar to Lexa's.
"She chose me." Clarke whispered at the realization and dropped to her knees, her tears betraying her and falling free.
