"Grammy!" With a huge smile on his little face, Mikey runs to his grandmother and wraps his tiny arms around her leg.
"Jurard! Grammy is here!" Mikey does not let go of his grandmothers leg as he excited turns to his older brother.
Gerard looks up from his book. He is a seven-year-old boy with brown long hair in a cute hairstyle and light brown eyes. He is a quick learner in school and was one of the first boys to learn the alphabet. Now Gerard is sitting in an old, black, leather couch reading "The Amityville Horror." When his grandmother comes in he does not smile, but you can see little stars of joy in his eyes as he looks up to his grandmother. He loves the dimples in her cheek as she smiles and asks Gerard where their parents are.
"Away" Is the only answer she gets. Gerard's face has suddenly turned into stone and the lights in his eyes have disappeared. It is as if a shadow has come over his face.
"Well that is just too bad." Grandmother says with and gives Gerard a wink. She opens up Mikey's arms and puts him down on the couch next to Gerard.
"Because then there is…" she looks in her bag "…more pancakes for us!" She takes out milk, eggs and flour. Mikey cheers in excitement and runs to the kitchen. The lights behind Gerard's eyes are turned on again as he follows his grandmother to the kitchen.
