Chapter 1: I Hate Bullies

Location: Miami, Florida (Oceanview Junior High)

Time: 2:30 P.M.

"I don't understand the appeal of being a hero." The boy said as he stared out the window of the guidance counselor's office, his pupilless mint green orbs more focused on the rain outside than the man sitting in front of him. His aquamarine hair was messy and looked like he put minimal effort into fixing it, like he had just woken up and combed his fingers through it, "Why would I want to put my life on the line for complete strangers?"

The counselor looked at the boy and scratched his head. He was truly at a loss for words. This was the first time he had ever seen a student who, despite being invited to one of the most prestigious schools in the country, had no desire to be a hero whatsoever. This kid's quirk was amazing and his grades were top notch, it was a no brainer that Horizon Academy would want him. This kid had no idea how many other kids would kill to be in the position he was in.

"Ezekiel, you do realize what kind of opportunity you'd be passing up if you don't go?" The counselor frowned as Ezekiel nodded, "Do you have some other job you want to do? With your grades, you can be just about anything."

Ezekiel looked at the counselor with a slight frown on his face and shrugged. His demeanor had changed completely at the mention of him not knowing what he was doing, "I haven't really given it any thought. I mean, I'm only fourteen. It's a while until I have to actually make that decision, right?"

The counselor was taken aback at how the boy had gone from spacey to annoyed, "Yes. Umm. Well." With nothing else to say, the counselor cleared his throat and went on to the most obvious question, "Should I send a letter saying that you declined their invite?"

Ezekiel turned to the window and stared blankly outside of the window for about a minute, making the counselor wonder if he had heard him. This kid was way too spacey for the counselor's liking.

After minutes of silence, Ezekiel closed his eyes and shook his head, "Don't send them my reply just yet. I need to think about it."

The counselor threw his hands in the air and sighed in exasperation. He realized his behavior wasn't professional and he cleared his throat, "Alright Ezekiel. Just be sure to give me your response before this Friday. That the last day of school and your last chance at Horizon Academy."

Ezekiel stood up and inclined his head slightly, "Sorry for the inconvenience."

The counselor waved his hand dismissively, "Its no problem, Ezekiel. Just make sure to think long and hard about it."

Ezekiel left the counselor's office and made his way to the school pool. He was always able to think better when he had water nearby. The ocean was more relaxing for his nerves but it was a forty-five minute walk to the nearest public beach so the pool would have to do.

His eyes stared at the water on the ground as he walked down the sidewalk towards the pool building. He saw something in the side of his vision and looked up to see the back of a tall person go around the building. Ezekiel thought it was kind of wierd for someone to still be around the school at almost four o'clock and it peaked his curiosity as he imagined what reason they could have for still being here.

He rounded the corner to see a taller guy standing with his arm pinned against the wall. A girl in the school uniform was whimpering underneath his imposing figure.

"Please. Just leave me alone." Ezekiel could hear her saying as the guy leaned in closer to her.

"I just want to have some fun, cutie. Don't you want to have some fun?"

Ezekiel stared at the scene in front of him as he remembered a memory from years ago.

"Hey Zeke. It looks like you lost your glasses." A taller boy said as he dangled Ezekiel's glasses over his head.

A younger and chubbier Ezekiel jumped into the air, frantically grasping for his glasses, "Give them back!"

"You want them back? Here." The boy said before throwing them on the ground and stomping them.

"Oops, guess I broke them." He snickered before walking past Ezekiel, high fiving his friends as he walked away.

Ezekiel picked up his glasses, tears forming in his eyes as he pushed the broken spectacles into his pocket. He stumbled blindly through the halls until he got to the bathroom and cried until he couldn't cry anymore.

That was the last time Ezekiel was ever bullied. After that incident, he started exercising and wearing contacts. Soon, the bullies were a distant memory but something always stuck.

Ezekiel found himself walking towards the guy who was harassing the girl. The water that dampened the ground started to hover in the air as Ezekiel's eyes started to glow a luminescent blue. He grabbed the older boy's shoulder and yanked him away from the girl.

"What the-?" He exclaimed as he was thrown on his butt.

The boy looked up at Ezekiel, his lips in a deadly snarl, "You're gonna pay for that, punk!"

The boy got up and swung his fist, aiming right at Ezekiel's left cheek. His fist connected and the boy grinned in triumph before his eyes lit up in disbelief. His fist continued to go through Ezekiel's body until it had completely fazed through to the other side, falling to the ground as if the momentum of his punch never slowed down.

Ezekiel raised his hands and the water that had been floating in the air gathered into one huge ball. The boy's face took on a look of pure terror at the sight of the floating orb. He scrambled to his feet and ran away, screaming something about wanting his mommy.

Ezekiel's eyes stopped glowing and the orb of water splashed against the ground. He exhaled deeply and rubbed his temples, "Damnit. Now my head hurts. That guy got me so worked up I did the glowy eye thing."

He turned around to see the girl staring up at him from her seated position on the ground, her icy blue eyes alight with gratitude. Her strawberry blonde hair was let down and reached the middle of her back. With her small, frail frame and her pale porcelain skin, she kind of looked like a doll. He walked to her and held out his hand to help her up, "You okay? Sorry if I got a bit scary there."

Her face flushed a shade of crimson as she grabbed his hand and he pulled her up. She kept her gaze on the ground as she thanked him.

"I'm sorry you had to step in. Quin used to be such a nice guy."

Ezekiel shuffled his feet nervously, not quite sure what to say as an awkward atmosphere enveloped the two.

"My name's Grace. What's yours?" The girl said out of the blue, startling Ezekiel.

"Ezekiel." He said plainly, before his face lit up, "Hand me your phone for a second."

Grace looked skeptical but did as he said. He typed his contact into her phone and handed it back to her, "There. I'm sorry but I really need to get going. If you're in trouble don't hesitate to call me."

"Okay." Grace replied before he ran off back in the direction he came from.

Ezekiel caught the guidance counselor as he was getting in his car, "Wait a second, sir!"

"What is it?" The guidance counselor asked, his eyes staring longingly at the inside of his car.

"I've decided to go to Horizon Academy!"

The counselor raised an eyebrow, "Oh really? What made you change your mind?"

"Because I just remembered what it was like when I was powerless. The bullies would always prey on the people who couldn't defend themselves. That's the reason I'm going to become a hero."

Ezekiel clenched his fists, "I'm going to get rid of those who walk over people because they are stronger than them! I hate bullies and I'm going to rid the world of them!"

The counselor looked at him with a surprised look on his face. This kid was totally different from the kid he was talking to earlier. This kid had a fire burning within him and it was almost scary how quickly it had ignited.

"Well Ezekiel. I'll send them your acceptance letter tomorrow. Be sure to get some rest. You're going to need it."

A/N: Okay, so you guys obviously clicked on this story because it said SYOC and guess what... that's exactly what it is. Before we get started, some ground rules need to be established.

1. Please, for the love of God, don't send me OC's in the reviews. Send them to me through PM and your OC might get picked.

2. This story is in the United States, so send whatever kind of name and person you want.

3. Please. Please. Please, don't do any Gary Stu or Mary Sue entries.

4. I love description and if you send me only two sentences describing the personality of your character I'm probably not going to pick them. More description- more chance of being picked. Simple.

5. Please think about your Character's quirk. Try to balance out the strengths and weaknesses of your quirk.

6. You're only allowed to send in up to two characters. And if you do send two characters, they'll have to be one of either gender.

7. This fanfic might contain strong language, graphic violence, gore, and maybe even sexual content. Maybe. I highly doubt it, but be assured that there will be no lemons on this story.

8. Please explain your characters appearance and don't have me searching the internet to find their picture. I won't do it. I won't guys.

9. Please try to review as much as you can if I pick your character so I can know if I'm doing them justice. That doesn't mean to review every chapter but at least pop in every once in a while so I can see your beautiful faces.

10. I am accepting one. ONE Person to inherit One-for-All in this fanfic. I would rather quirkless but hey if you've got a character who you think would be a good inherent of One-for-All go for it. The current wielder of One-for-All will be introduced next chapter.

11. I'm accepting 18 characters besides my two OCs. That makes twenty students (if you can't do rudimentary math.)

12. Title the PM [Character Name, Quirk Name]

Statistics

Rank you character from A(Best) to F(Worst) on each of the following statistics. Don't have an A for all of them as that's kind of the level for number 1. I'll only accept an A if it makes sense.

Power: A measure of your character's physical prowess and their physical damage dealing ability. Try not to think about the quirk while you rate this.

Endurance: How much physical and emotional pain can your character take before they reach a breaking point? Don't think about their quirk.

Quirk: This stat represents the applicability or power of your character's quirk and to a lesser extent the user's knowledge of the quirk.

Intelligence: This measures your character's brain function. Which means their knowledge, apprehension skills, and most importantly, their ability to strategize and use tactics in the midst of battle.

Technique:

Teamwork: This measures how well your character works in a team environment. Think about the quirk and the personality when you're scoring this one
