The Unseen
PROLOGUE
He walked determinedly down the corridors, avoiding the curious glances of the wizards and witches in the portraits; his eyes fixed on the door carved into the wall a few feet away which beckoned him with secrets untold and uncovered by man.
He lightly tapped his wand on the old wood and muttered a few inaudible words. There was a bright flash and then….nothing.
CHAPTER 1
Just as she landed haphazardly on her feet she was knocked over by a furry little thing that latched itself to her face quite painfully. She froze before frantically trying to rip the bloody thing off her face. It hissed at her before jumping off her elegantly. And that's when the girl noticed that it was a cat and not some mutated, miniature death-eater. She tried to stare menacingly at it, desperately hoping that it would leave her be to find Dumbledore and though it did haughtily leave her alone in the corridor, she highly doubted it was because she had scared it away.
'Miss…?'
'Granger, sir,' she replied, crossing her fingers underneath the table; She needed this meeting to go the way she had planned it to.
'Well Miss Granger, though your story is quite riveting, I must ask you why you are lying to me.' His intense blue eyes no longer held the twinkle that she had long come to associate him with, instead they were now drilling a hole into her head, determined to find the truth. She hastily barricaded him out of her mind, mentally thanking Severus for teaching her occlumency.
'Sir, I need to ask you not to privy. I would not willingly lie to you; however, just this one time I need you to trust me. I need this to go as planned.'
'Need what to go as planned?' he asked her suspiciously.
'I cannot say, sir.' She whispered dejectedly.
'Well, I guess I have no choice in the matter then.' He answered her brightly. 'However, I too need you to trust me when I tell you that time shouldn't be meddled with Miss Granger.'
She looked up from her seat in shock but she just found herself staring into that familiar twinkle in his eyes.
'Now run along Miss Granger. I do believe lunch is about to be served.' She hastily nodded her head and with elated spirits jumped off her chair and quickly turned to the door.
'Oh, but sir?'
'Yes?' he asked her befuddled.
'I don't know where the Great Hall is Professor,' she lied.
He chuckled at her silliness before answering in an amused tone, 'I do not recall mentioning where lunch would be served Miss Granger. I do hope you will be more convincing to your peers if you wish to truly succeed with your plan.'
'Ah, but sir, according to Hogwarts: A History, The Great Hall was built by both Helga and Rowena for its initial purpose as a-'
Dumbledore's laugh cut me off with his small chuckles and I smiled to myself as hope sang joyfully through my veins for the first time in a long time.
