Hello! I wrote this quickly and thought it was cute enough to be posted. My inspiration is Vampire Diaries and an interview with Daniel Radcliff. All rights disclaimed. Enjoy!

He Said My Freckles Are Cute

Lily crunched her nose. "Did you really take that necklace from dad's office?" she scolded, "That's stealing."

"It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission," he told her, grinning, "I will return it when I'm finished." He threw the necklace in the air and caught it with his other hand.

"What are you planning to do with it?" she asked suspiciously.

"That's for me to know and for you to, dot-dot-dot." He said with a sly smile. He then put the necklace in his pocket and sat down.

"Why are you sitting? Do you really think I'm going to cook alone?" Albus knew she was pissed.

"What's for dinner?" he asked with amusement. The look on her face…

"Have it your way then. We're eating leftovers."

Albus groaned.

"Where's James, anyway?" he asked. He hasn't seen his older brother in hours, and the unusual quietness was starting to freak him out.

"Well, you know that girl from Hufflepu-"

"Say no more." Albus sighed. His brother had a new girlfriend, and Al was still lonely-ly single. He had a crush on someone, he wasn't the problem, but apparently (and unfortunately) that someone only had eyes for the other sex. How disappointing. And such a great body, too…

Lily was putting plates on the table. Albus helped her and heated the food. Lily glared at him when he used magic to do so. She wasn't allowed yet, but that was going to change in two years. Two long, miserable, magic-less years.

When the table was set, Lily and Albus sat down and started to eat.

"You know, I think Scorpius likes me." Lily said suddenly. Albus swallowed thickly.

"Is that so?" he asked her.

"He looks at me all the time," she said, "And when we got off the train for summer, he said he thinks my freckles are cute."

Albus stopped eating. "He said that?" He frowned. It wasn't like Scorpius to just drop off compliments anywhere he goes.

"Well, Hugo said red hair and freckles are our family trait, and then I said I hated my freckles, and Scorpius just happened to hear that and said that he thinks they're cute." She explained.

"Oh."

"Yeah."

"Good for you."

"Thanks…"

They continued eating in silence. The awkwardness between them couldn't be explained by either.

"So, do you think I should? I mean, go for it?" she asked hesitantly.

Albus blinked at her. "Sure. It's just so weird. He's my best friend." He said, still confused and surprised at this new development.

"I know. But, Al, I couldn't help but think – what if he doesn't like me?" she looked as there was something he was missing.

"Huh?"

Lily sighed-groaned, "What if it's not me that he likes? What if it's someone else?" she leaned forward, looking at him expectantly.

"Scorpius never showed interest in anyone before." He assured her.

"Maybe you haven't noticed?"

"I'm sure that I would have. Don't worry. If you want, I'll even drop in a good word for you." He offered, completely obvious.

"No! Merlin, Al, are you blind?" she raised her voice at him. She was standing up by this point, so she sat back down with a huff.

Albus scowled, bemused and insulted. "I'm not. I think I know my best friend, Lily."

"Obviously, you don't."

"Why are you even angry?"

"Would it help if I told you he said he thinks my family's freckles are cute?" she looked furious.

Albus furrowed his brow in confusion.

"You boys are so stupid sometimes." She wailed, shaking her head and exiting the kitchen dramatically while murmuring things about quitting trying and something about being a Ravenclaw…
