After a tussel with the Master the Doctor fell of the Pharos Tower and regenerated into his fifth form. But something was going terribly wrong. The regeneration was failing, though it seemed he was going through normal Post-Regeneration trauma. He had the symptms, mild confusion, disorentation. But the episodes were more frequent than normal. Perhaps is was due to the regeneration happend so quickly. He needed to find the zero room and fast.
Adric, came to assist him. Though the Doctor didn't know who the boy was he knew he was there to help and the Doctor had resposability for him. Later on in their travels it would seem the Doctor was irritated with him at times was only because Adric reminded him much like one of his sons.
Suddenly the Doctor was over come by a giddinous sinsastion.
"Are you alright Doctor?" The boy asked.
"There are powerful dimensioning forces these deep in the TARDIS, tends to make one a bit giddy."
"And the regeneration?"
He turned to Adric, "I say boy, what would you do if you were me, hmm. Or what would you do if I were me?" He continued down the corridor. "Not far now Brigadier...if the ice warriors get there first." He came to an abrupt hault. "Oh dear, we wonderd into the wrong corridor. Jamie, go back. It's not safe."
"No, I got to stay with you Doctor. "Adric stood at a distance. Though the Doctor was valunerable and week, it urked him that the Doctor was acting like a raving mad man. Best find this zero room and quick.
"Go back, don't you understand..." Something shook him out of his clouded mind for a short moment, and he realized in horor "This regeneration is failing."
At one point Adric wandered off. Snapping out of his delirium, temporarily, the Doctor called back to him, "Adric. Adric. Not that way." He paused. His eyes becoming distant as if recalling an old memory. How could he forget the boys name?
He stumbled upon Nyssa and Teagan after he had heard a door slam shut. "Doctor!" Teagan exclaimed reliefed. "Are you alright?" The two girls themselves were warn out after following the trail of discarted articles of clothing and an unraveled scarf. The Doctor focused on Tegan, trying to recall her name. "Fit as a fiddle Vicky. But there's something peculiar going on in the TARDIS. The zero room have you seen it anywhere?" Tegan pointed down the corridor. "The noise came from this way." In no time they found the zero room. The walls were undented with familiar TARDIS roundels but they were huge, as the room was vast and large. A sensation of peace desended on all of them. A cool slightly sweet oder pervaded the air. "Roses." Tegan whispered. Her Auntie Vanessa used to have a rose garden. Tegan used to play in it as a child, no matter how many times she was warned. The Doctor nodded. "Yes. I've never understood why. Quite peacful, isn't it?"
The TARDIS could see all time lines, and time was folding back on itself. She summoned up one thing that would help relax her theif that would make the healing of the synapses a lot smoother. A Rose.
