There's A Heart That Must Be Free To Fly
"Relena stop this! You don't know what you're doing!" Hilde yelled to her best friend.
Only a few months earlier Relena and Heero had made themselves known again to their friends.
The two lovers and comrades left about a year ago, after the incident with Michael Parker.
According to what little information the other pilots dug up, Heero and Relena were parading
around as their aliases, Liz Evans and Nicholas Parks. They were also moving around quite a bit,
both on the colonies and the earth, but no one knows why.
"It isn't Relena, Hilde, it's Liz. Relena is dead, and now I'm going to rid the world of
Liz Evans, the terrorist." Relena's calm face matched her feelings inside. For a few months now
she has been devising a way to live in peace. A few moments ago she ready to do it, but then
Hilde came. Now she just wished Hilde would go and let her be happy.
"No! I know Relena is still there!" The German girl smiled and gazed right into her
friend's eyes. "I know that peace-loving, sweet, sensible girl who I am proud to have as a friend
is still lurking inside you. I can see her in your eyes. All you have to do is back away from the
cliff and come talk about it."
The blonde haired girl stood there, staring right back at Hilde with her fierce, silver blue
eyes. She shook her head, her gaze never wavering.
"You do not understand me anymore Hilde. No one does. Now leave and let me do
this one thing!" Relena stepped right on the edge, her toes leaving the safety of the ground. She
looked below and saw the rocks and waves that would bring her the peace she craved.
"No Relena! I am begging you, as a friend, do not do this!" Hilde's voice flew out in
sobs, tears streaming down her face. Relena looked up at the sky, watching the storm clouds roll
in. Thunder sounded in the distance. Without looking back, Relena left the safety of the cliff...
