Disclaimer: Harry Potter is JKRs
This is from a group of four oneshots themed on the ideas of love and perfection, (they're all on different pairings and can be read separately).
((This oneshot is more …musing, I suppose, than the others, which have more plot/ 'substance'.))
Beautiful :Love and Perfection:
Ron stood in the doorway looking across the grass at the lake, searching for Luna. He spotted her under a tree, staring out across the lake and singing sweetly to herself. The sun reflected off her golden blond hair making it shine, almost like a halo. Daisies were entwined into her hair, a circlet of petals. 'She's so beautiful,' he thought, 'almost like a Nymph, or a Dryad'. He started walking over, thinking how lucky he was to have her.
Luna sat by the lake. She sang an enchanting, lilting melody that made anyone who heard it smile. She was thinking contentedly of Ron when she remembered a conversation she had overheard Lavender and Parvati having the other day. Those two gossiped so much that if they weren't careful Muttering Buzzwingers might nest in their ears. They really were very shallow those two, they had been giggling over finding 'The One,' and how he would have to be 'perfect'. 'Perfect…' she mused. 'How could anyone be perfect? Didn't those two know that no one was perfect? Besides, perfect would be different for everyone, as everyone was different...' She gazed dreamily into the distance, 'Really…What was perfection anyway?...' A pair of strong arms wound round her waist from behind, interrupting her song. Ron gently tugged her into his lap. She slid her fingers in between his and leant her head on top of where his was resting on her shoulder.
'Don't stop singing, it was beautiful.' He murmured, running his fingers through her silky hair. She turned and gave him a kiss on his freckled cheek and ruffled his red hair. She sang quietly, her voice floating out over the lake, mixing in with the whispering wind. 'No, he isn't perfect,' she thought, 'but then again if he was…he wouldn't be my Ronald…'
