Every Other Friday At Five

One out of two ain't gonna make it
Those are the odds these days
And in a world of statistics
He's left tryin' to survive
'Til every other Friday at five

As Jeff sits in his apartment he looks at a photo of him and Trish on there wedding day and one of them with there Children Caitlyn, JJ and Georgia as the memories of that day filled his mind

Flash back to 2 years ago

"Daddy look what I've found". JJ said as he ran to his father and holding up a seashell

"Wow buddy and it's not even broken if you hold it to your ear you'll be able to here the waves you know". Jeff said

"Really daddy". JJ asked as only an excited 4 year old could

"Dad lunch is ready mom said to come and get you". Caitlyn had said coming out onto the veranda

"Well I guess we should go then ha buddy or daddy will be in the dog house". Jeff joked picking up his son

"Hey I heard that". Trish had said

"Just joking baby". He'd said as they'd all gone into the house for lunch

End flash back

Oh where did we go wrong I thought we would be together forever? If it wasn't for Candice maybe we would have been why was I so stupid how could I throw away what me and Trish had now I'm missing so much and all I have is every other weekend he thought as he placed the pictures on the side of his bed.

He counts the days and then the hours
'Till he can hold his babies in his arms
and they'll be watching' out the window
When he pulls up in the drive
on every other Friday at five

For forty-eight hours they're with him again
but on Sunday afternoon he's out of time
some folks call him a deserter but his kids know he'll arrive
on every other Friday at five

So let's not put 'em in the middle
and play tug-of-war with their little hearts
but let mamas and daddies
Smile hello and wave goodbye
on every other Friday at five

As Jeff Pulls up at the house he and Trish shared for 11 happy years he spots his kids looking out of the window and he gets out of the car just as the front door opens and his 3 little angles come bounding into his arms "daddy I made this at Pre School". Georgia said handing him a picture

"It's great what is it of". He asked

"it's you and mommy with me JJ and Caitlyn she said just like a 4 year old who didn't understand why mommy and daddy where no longer together

"Hi Jeff, kids be good for daddy". Trish said coming over and Jeff felt his heart skip a beat

"We will mommy". JJ and Georgia said

While Caitlyn just frowned cause she hated this whole thing why did that slut have to come between her parents why do her mom and dad think she's a Baby she's nearly 10 and not stupid "Caitlyn what's wrong". Her parents asked concerned

"This is can we just go dad". Caitlyn snapped

"Caitlyn please tell us what's wrong your happiness is everything to us. Jeff said

"Really then why aren't you here why did you hurt mom why aren't we a family". Caitlyn screamed

"I oh Caitlyn I love your mother and I love you kids I made a mistake and if I could take it back I would". Jeff said

"Then why don't you come back we miss you dad". Caitlyn asked

"Cause I lost your mothers trust and I don't know if I can get it back". Jeff said

"Ok dad". By mom she said as she got into her fathers car along with her brother and sister

For forty-eight hours they're with him again
but on Sunday afternoon he's out of time
some folks call him a deserter but his kids know he'll arrive
On every other Friday at five

And they'll be watching' out the window
