Written for totaldramaactress334's Rose and Scorpius challenge.
Song based on: Say a Little Prayer, Glee cast.
"Scorpius," she said, "You can't be serious."
"Yes, I can," Scorpius countered. "And at the current moment, I am."
Rose rolled her eyes, though at the same time she was slightly afraid.
Of course, it wasn't like she could reveal that fact to anyone.
After all, she was a Slytherin, who didn't even unveil themselves to others of their own house.
Rose couldn't alert him of her slight fear. Her anxiety.
Oh, and the fact that she wanted to say yes.
"So...Do you want to go with me to Hogsmeade tomorrow?"
She started to speak, but Scorpius wouldn't shut up- I mean, Scorpius continued to speak.
"We could go visit the shrieking shack, I hear that's scary."
"Well-"
"Or Zonko's, we could get some stuff to prank people with. Oh, and-"
"Scorpius," she interrupted loudly.
"Er...what?" he asked, trying to look as innocent and cheerful as possible.
Which wasn't very much at all, in her opinion, but she made no comment.
"If I didn't know better, I'd say you were stalling!"
"Stalling? I'm not stalling! Why would I do that, Rose?" he asked.
"You're doing it right now!"
"Am not," he protested.
"Fine," she said, "then I won't tell you my answer."
"What?" Scorpius exclaimed. "You can't do that!"
"And why not, Scorpius Malfoy?"
"Because you want to go out with me!" he said, as if it were obvious.
"Maybe I don't," she replied, wondering why she wasn't just saying yes.
"But everyone- I mean, I thought you did!" he said, thoroughly confused.
"Well, it's not like you want to go out with me, anyway," she said.
"Rose, I do!"
"You were stalling."
"So? What does that have to do with anything?"
"You were stalling," Rose repeated.
She walked faster, away from him, away from all of them.
She murmured a quick prayer to whoever was up there, whoever was watching her at that moment.
"Help him...he seriously needs help," she tried to joke. "Help him with whatever...but do help him."
The clouds that had been covering the sun seemed to fade a little, and the sun shone brighter.
She glanced around to watch him walking away.
The light glinted off Scorpius's light hair like rays of sunshine, and she knew.
Somewhere, somebody had answered.
"Scorpius," she whispered, "Why did I say no?"
Next time, she thought furiously, I'll ask him.
A little voice inside her head commented, "Why not now?"
Admittedly, that was a pretty good question.
Rose yelled, "Scorpius! Want to go to Hogsmeade with me tomorrow?"
There was none of the former hesitation or stalling, just an answer.
Maybe it was okay to bare your soul to particular people, no matter who you were.
"Sure!" he called back, grinning.
Especially if it was destined to turn out right.
