Jade Unmasked

By LandminesLandslides

A/N: I don't own Victorious or the characters. Also, this oneshot isn't related to the fanfic series I'm working on.

Jade didn't know what to do. She couldn't keep up this act. She'd been acting like she didn't care about anyone, but she knew she couldn't keep doing it. Her relationship with Beck was going down in flames. That didn't make her sad. She had seen it coming for a while. The spark had been gone from their relationship had been fading for a long time and then Tori had showed up. She wasn't as angry at Tori as she had originally been. She had been desperately trying to hang on to her relationship with Beck. Talk about being in denial. But she couldn't do that anymore. Not to Tori and not to anyone else. How could she have ever thought that it was all right for her to be so hostile to other people? She would have some serious apologizing to do.

Jade could still remember the conversation that had made her start thinking this way. She hadn't really been part of the conversation, it was more like something that she overheard. She had been waiting to ask Sikowitz a question when she'd heard two students talking about her. She was pretty sure she heard one of them call her "scary." That really wasn't anything that she wasn't used to. People were scared of her all the time. But there was something that was different about this time and Jade knew what it was: This time, she didn't like hearing it. It made her feel bad. It wasn't the situation that had changed, it was her. Being around Tori and the others had made her see things a lot differently. But what was she supposed to do now? She had never done anything like this. She hurried to the bathroom and stared at herself in the mirror. She really didn't feel like she knew herself anymore. Where was the girl who had fallen for Beck? Where was the girl that he had fallen in love with? Jade desperately wanted to take off the mask that she wore. The only problem was, she had worn it for so long that she didn't know what was under it anymore. The not knowing was the scariest thing of all. The not knowing was the thing that she couldn't take. So Jade did something that no one would ever believe: She stared at herself in the mirror and began to cry.
