Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or the song Hands to Heaven by Breathe.
As I watch you move, across the moonlit room
There's so much tenderness in your loving
Tomorrow I must leave, the dawn knows no reprieve
God give me strength when I am leaving
Harry was sitting at his table in Bill and Fleur's wedding reception, observing Ginny as she danced with her brother, Charlie. His thoughts drifted to the brief moment they had shared on the day of his birthday. It almost made him want to stay at the burrow a bit longer… to stay with Ginny a bit longer.
So raise your hands to heaven and pray
That we'll be back together someday
Tonight, I need your sweet caress
Hold me in the darkness
Tonight, you calm my restlessness
You relieve my sadness
He stood up and made his way across the dance floor to where Ginny and Mr. Weasley are now dancing. "May I cut in, Mr. Weasley?"
"Of course, Harry. If you'll both excuse, I must find Molly."
As Harry and Ginny danced together, they lost themselves in the music an in each other's eyes. It was as if no one else mattered and no other person existed except each other.
As we move to embrace, tears run down your face
I whisper words of love, so softly
I can't believe this pain, it's driving me insane
Without your touch, life will be lonely
The sound of clapping hands brought them back to earth many minutes later. They hadn't realized that the music stopped until they heard the clapping. The couple decided to take a stroll in the nearby grounds of the property, taking opportunity of the fact that this night may very well be the last time they would see each other in the foreseeable future. Ginny broke the silence by asking "Harry, would it be terribly selfish of me if I beg you to wait a few more days before leaving for whatever it is you're going to do?"
Harry let himself wear his heart on his sleeve for once that night. Before he could stop himself, he reached out and embraced Ginny in a hug that seemed like his life depended on it. "Oh Gin, I really do wish I could stay a few more days. However, the sooner I do these tasks, the sooner Voldemort is out of our lives." Harry didn't know how much time has passed while he sat on the grassy field comforting the woman he loved as she cried in his arms. All he knew was he was going to miss her terribly while he was off finishing Voldemort.
Morning has come, another day
I must pack my bags and say goodbye, goodbye
Dawn the next morning found Harry at Ginny's bedroom window. He had been unable to sleep and had been doing a lot of thinking the previous night. He sighed and went towards the sleeping figure of Ginny. He bent down to kiss her cheek and moved to leave the room. He paused at the door to say "Goodbye for now, Ginny. I love you and always will." Harry went downstairs where Ron and Hermione were waiting for him. He took his bag and placed his hand on a piece of string offered by Hermione. A second later, he felt a tug on his navel and all three disappeared with a slight whoosh.
So raise your hands to heaven and pray
That we'll be back together someday
Tonight, I need your sweet caress
Hold me in the darkness
Tonight, you calm my restlessness
You relieve my sadness…
