A/N: First Spangs fic. So I was all set to hate Carmen, but [as much as I love Spashley I like her and the pairing.

Spencer took the bottle of water and settled on the bench in front of Carmen. "Do you have to go?" The other girl repeated her earlier question as she watched the blonde sigh and run a hand through her hair.

"No." She shook her head, trying to shake all thoughts of Ashley from her mind. "I…That was my ex. Guess her boyfriend's busy." She muttered bitterly.

"Wow, sounds like a long story." Putting her water down she took a seat next to the blonde and sat silently waiting for her to talk. "In case you hadn't realised that was my way of saying it's your turn to talk."

Spencer blushed and laughed. "I'm sorry. I'm just really not used to being the centre of attention it's always about Ash-"
"Well now it's about you. So talk." She brushed her hand across Spencer's causing her to shudder.

"You're right." She smiled. "It doesn't always have to be about Ashley. So let's talk about something else, 'kay?"

The other girl nodded and paused to think of what they could talk about. All afternoon the conversation between them had flowed easily and it was the first time either didn't know what to say. "When did you first realise you were gay?" The blonde surprised her by bursting in to a fit of laughter. She cocked her eyebrow questioningly at the odd response.

"I'm sorry." Spencer apologised while trying to stop laughing. "It's just once again it involves Ashley. I guess this past year has always been about her."

She looked up from her hands to find Carmen staring at her intensely. "What?" She slipped off the bench, standing directly in front of the blonde, the tension between them returning.
"You have the cutest laugh." She blushed and looked away, her face almost as red as the splodges of paint she found herself looking at on the floor. Since breaking up with Ashley she'd looked at other girls, even flirted with them, but she had never been interested in them as she had been with Ashley. Carmen however was a different story.

She gasped slightly as she felt nimble fingers cup her chin and tilt her head up to face the other girl. She bit her lip waiting for the inevitable but found Carmen still staring at her, as though gauging whether she was ok with the contact. Carefully Spencer slid her arms around the taller girl, sliding off the bench so that they were standing face to face. That seemed to be all the encouragement she needed as she leant in to kiss her.

It felt strange holding and kissing a girl that wasn't Ashley; different but not unpleasant. Just as she was getting used to the foreign lips, and hands, on her body Chelsea walked in, grinning largely at the sight that met her.
