Summery: Is Macavity so bad? Bombalurina's not sure
Disclaimer: I don't own Cats, the characters or the lyrics
Black Blood
Prologue
Bombalurina gave a quiet meow to herself, as if to let the demons out. They were strutting around her head, scratching and clawing it to bits. She was confused, that was clear enough. Not that anyone would notice it to look at her. She was sitting on the fence quite peacefully-anyone passing would think that she was just watching the moon quietly before she went to bed. However, anyone who had crept just a little bit closer would hear her moaning. And those with a really keen sense of hearing would hear her whisper a word, just one. Macavity...
She let out another sigh. Why was it so hard to stop thinking about him? After all, he was cruel and deceitful and...It was a miracle she still liked him, even just a little bit. Actually no, the real miracle was that no one had realised how she felt about him, especially after the song she had sung. Mind you, she supposed it did sound a little bit like she hated him. She could barely remember it, but thought it probably went something like this:
Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity
There never was a cat of such deceitfulness and suavity
He always has an alibi and one or two to spare
What ever time the deed took place Macavity's not there!
And then there was:
Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity
He's a fiend in feline shape, a monster of depravity
You may meet him in a by-street, you may see him in the square
But when a crime's discovered then Macavity's not there!
But then again, she had sang:
Macavity's a ginger cat, he's very tall and thin
You would know him if you saw him for his eyes are sunken in
His brow is deeply lined with thought, his head is highly domed
His coat is dusty from neglect, his whiskers are uncombed
He sways his head from side to side with movements like a snake
And when you think he's half asleep, he's always wide awake
Okay, so she'd gone a bit over the top when she was describing him. But could you blame her? He was so dreamy and wild-looking, she couldn't help but feel her heart skip a beat...
Suddenly she heard a dustbin crash to the ground behind her. She spun round, but-whatever it was had gone. A smile rose up on her lips as familiar lyrics came back.
But when a crime's discovered then Macavity's not there!
Bombalurina got up, shaked herself over and jumped off the wall. Time to go back.
Author's Note: What did you think? Just the beginning, I'll write more soon and it will be longer next time as well. Sorry if some of it is inaccurate, it's been a long time since I last saw Cats. Hope you enjoyed it!
