Half Moon heaved herself up her long white fur in tangles. She looked out into her camp. Her camp. Hers. That was what Jay's Wing said. No, wrong. Jayfeather. She corrected herself. The handsome gray tom that had just appeared and disappeared through her life. The father of her kits. Kits! Jayfeather would have been so excited, she missed his sweet smell, his fur, his presence. Here she was alone. She felt… empty. "I hope you were right when you said I was destined to become Stoneteller." Half Moon murmured. She could hear his words in her ear, as if it were just yesterday he left. "We were not meant to be together, Half Moon, no matter how hard I wishes so. You can read the signs of the moon. You are the next Stoneteller." She looked out into the starry sky which shone like a thousand crystals. A large tear began to form at the corner of her eye. Slowly, it traced its way to her cheek and fell into the lake at her feet with a… Plop. "I will wait for you forever, my Jay's Wing."
Jayfeather closed his eyes. Marigold… Poppy seeds… Honey… Thyme… Half Moon… Half Moon. Wait, What? Why was he thinking about Half Moon? Well why shouldn't you? A voice argued in his head. You left her alone, you broke her heart! He opened his eyes. He imagined her, soaking wet, his last water fight with her. Her musical voice, tinkling, as smooth as the gently flowing stream. Half Moon her beautiful white fur, and sharp green eyes. If only I could have spent more time with her. We could have had kits! A family! He imagined them, three maybe, one she-kit with beautiful long white fur like her mother's but gray paws and blue eyes. Another silver tabby she-kit. And the last, a dark black tom with rich green eyes. She was the light in his eyes, it was her who made him live, for he was looking forward to their nightly dreams. But not anymore. "You are the one that lets me live. I want to die, to meet you in Starclan. But you tell me, I must live. I am living for you Half Moon. I love you." He whispered.
Isn't it ironic? The fact that both of them are thinking the same thing the same time?
