Early Morning
Claire Danvers
OH MY LORD! I HATE HER. I could bury her in a hole fill with Piranhas and listen to her screams. Right now I'm sat in a stupid Emergency Room, in collage. Why do I have to be so smart? Monica has pushed me around for the last time. I shall find a new place to live. Some where away from TPU. Some little cosy house with people my age.
I grabbed the newspaper and looked for the ads. There were lots of places I could go to. The first four all denied me. Either they had already found a roommate or I was too young. Seriously. I'm seventeen soon. I'm sure I can live on my own. Looking back at the list, the fifth article read:
Three roommates, seeking fourth: huge old house, privacy assured, reasonable rent and utilities
OK, decision time Claire. Let's think: three roommates, not bad hopefully my age-ish, lots of company. Privacy, good so I won't be interrupted. 'Reasonable' rent. I hope it's cheap rent, since I hardly have any money on me. OK. I'm calling them.
The phone kept ringing, and ringing, and guess what…Ringing! Why won't somebody…Oh great, answering machine.
'Hello, you've reached the Glass House. If you're looking for Michael, he sleeps days.' A young male sounding boy said. If you're looking for Shane, good luck with that, 'cause we never know where the hell he is-' I heard a distant laughter of…yeah two people, sounded. Just get on with it. 'and if you're looking for Eve, you'll probably get her on her cell phone or at the shop. But hey. Leave a message. And if you're looking to audition for the room, come on by. It's 716 West Lot Street.' Suddenly a female voice came onto the phone, she sounded super hyper. 'Yeah just look for the mansion' The male came back on. SERIOUSLY! 'Gone with the Wind meets The Munsters.' There was a laughter then a Beep Tone. Oh lord. What do I say?
"Um…hi. My name is Claire? Claire Danvers? And I was, um calling about the, um, room thing. Sorry."
I hung up. What could I say? I'm going to die if you don't give me the room. The people sounded…normal.
That's it! I'm going to pack a few things, call a cab, and hope for the best. I'll go to Lot Street and casually ask for the room. Beg if I have to!
