ONE SHOT EVERYONE. I was listening to Bruno Mars' 'When I was your man' (thanks to the introduction by Gearslayer360 and Tmoney) haha so yeah.
Sesshomaru POV
The last of the cherry blossoms fell to the ground in a dramatic display. She was gone. A light pink petal fell in my hair, shaking it away, I sighed. She loved to walk along the forest trails when the the blossoms were in bloom. I stood, refusing to wallow in my own misery. I wasn't thinking. It was my fault. For someone who saw all...there was one thing I couldn't forsee...Birds near by chirped, mocking me. I hummed along. After all. If Sango was here, she would have released her hair and sung along. I couldn't imitate such a lovely voice, so I settled for humming. Again, the wind blew. How could I have let her slip away from me? Rin ran to me, a smile on her face. For a moment she reminded me so much of her mother Sango, now grown and beautiful. Her raven hair fell over her thin delicate shoulders, the sun caught in her hair. I knelt down and plucked a bright yellow daisy.
"Rin." she danced over. I offered the flower. She smiled at me and gave me a light kiss on the cheek before tucking the offering behind her ear. It paled in comparison.
"Dad?"
"Yes Rin?"
She pondered silently before smiling. She could blind the sun if she so pleased. How radiant was she? My delicate flower Rin.
"What was mom like?"
I knew it was coming. And on the anniversary of her death nonetheless. Irony, you interesting soul.
"Your mother...was ...like the wind." I struggled to find a comparison that wouldn't insult such a graceful woman, "she was more radiant than the sun it's self, more fluid than the rushing waters, more perfect than all of life combined." She smiled weakly.
"You really were in love with her weren't you?"
"Mm."
She stayed quiet for a while.
"How did she die?"
That question stung more than I could manage to bear. There was a literal pain in my soul, it was ripping the sheet to shreds.
"She...got too close," was all I managed to tell her.
"To what?"
"To me." She didn't push any further. Sango was so brave...she jumped in front of me and tried to wrestle me away from the child. I was going to kill my own daughter because she was a mutt. But what a beautiful mutt she has become and I would've never known if her mother had never forced me to see. I rubbed her small, furry ear.
"Dad?"
"Yes Rin?"
"I love you,"
"Mm."
She smiled and went to run away, back to her berry picking -or whatever teenage women did.
"Rin!"
"Yes?" she turned and in my imagination the resemblance flashed, making them nearly identical.
"I love you too,"
